@wfnz: Rich Cho: We Aren’t Shopping Kidd-Gilchrist « CBS Charlotte http://t.co/gtbsfdPrjs

Thought this deserved it's own thread. Cho talks about much more than MKG. Good stuff.

Thanks for the link.

Now before anyone points to this interview as proof of anything I will only ask one simple question.

How would Cho benefit from confirming he has shopped MKG when that would make his merchandise look worse and send the wrong message to MKG like the team wants to dump him?

For those expecting a confirmation, it's highly unlikely and a lack of confirmation is proof of nothing.

If you go to the Sheridan interview he backs off the shopping lable and changes to his name has been brought up in trades. He makes it sound like we have talk MKG with people who have called but may not be the ones calling. To me this is not shopping it is being prudent. You have to listen when people call because you never know who may way overpay for an asset.

The stuff about Porter at 4 could be real though. And if Cleveland's assets could help bring in Cousins then you have to wonder if Len + MKG is better than Cousins + Porter.

I agreed with this is the MKG thread and praised you for the idea there. If MKG can land us a Cousins/Porter combo then I would have to consider it and make a move for Robinson and we have a young 5 man core to grow together.

Put me in the camp for a deal that gets us Cousins + Porter via dealing hyphen. Then get Robinson also on his rookie deal, while he still has the potential to develop within this young core? That is the building block of a future contender.

So Slam, there you go. You were wondering where I was during the MKG rumors. i was just patiently seeing what developed. As I have said, I don't hate hyphen. I just think he will never develop into the assasin that many feel he is destined to become.

For that matter I do not think Noel is all that great either. He is undersized physically to handle the 5's in our conference. Len could (maybe), but he is a bigger gamble than any other likely option at the 4.

A lineup of Kemba, Hendo, Porter, Robinson and Cousins just looks like the Eastern Conference version of the Kings to me.

: “@bobcats: "Every team, agent, etc. has their own philosophy. We want to see guys compete." -Rich Cho”

@bobcats: Rich Cho: "Our philosophy has been if a guy wants to work out, we want them against other players. We don't necessarily want a one-on-zero"

@rick_bonnell: Cho said Bobcats won't let players work out by themselves before draft. That explains why Oladipo and McLemore weren't in Charlotte.

@bobcats: "Defensively we have to get better, perimeter shooting... Those are some of the needs we will address tomorrow & in free agency" Rod Higgins

Listening to Cho's interview on WFNZ, the possibility of drafting Oladipo doesn't sound too encouraging, and the same could be said for McLemore. I don't think the shooting guard position is on Cho's radar, and rightfully so. I believe that if neither of Noel or Bennett are available at 4th overall Cho will consider the trade route, and if the intriguing deals are off the table, Len or Zeller are the afterthoughts

Also, upon hearing him laugh emphatically towards the MKG trade rumors I seriously doubt that Sheridan has any idea of what he's talking about, and neither does his source

If Cho decides to go the trade route for a SG it would be interesting to see if he would target Eric Gordon. He seems to be the best SG available.

I'm not exactly sure if Eric Gordon is better than O.J. Mayo or Tyreke Evans at this point, considering his knee problems, and that's before mentioning his atrocious contract that's due for another 3 seasons

to be fair, nobody has that stoner say-nothing laugh down like Cho. he sounds like he is sitting beside an end table full of empty pringles cans all the time.

I agree. Cho has a real sense of humor & charisma about him. I just believe that the fact that he went out of his way to make an appearance on radio within 24 hours to dispel these rumors has to mean that they were totally false. Even if it was a cover up, it would make Cho look bad if he turned around & traded MKG a day or so later. Also, that "100% false" line that he used referring to the teams that Sheridan said his sources mentioned as potential suitors only make everything seem even more bogus

"I had the pleasure of going on the air in Charlotte this morning on WFNZ immediately after general manager Rich Cho came on the program. An excerpt of Cho’s interview was played, and wait until you listen to his nervous laughter before saying he is not “shopping” Michael Kidd-Gilchrist but is listening to offers.

That, folks, is semantics.

“Shopping” is a loaded word. “Listening to offers” is a more soothing statement.

I went on to defend the story we posted yesterday about Kidd-Gilchrist, and how he would become expendable if Otto Porter falls to the Bobcats at No. 4.

And let’s not forget that when you are in a position like the one the Bobcats are in, sometimes you have to take your best player and swap him for another good player along with building blocks. Especially when you owe a future No. 1 draft pick to the Chicago Bulls as part of the ill-advised Tyrus Thomas trade by the regime that preceeded Cho."

-Chris Sheridan

Man he sounds desperate to defend that story. Its a shame that he use to be one of the premier go to guys for NBA related news for ESPN that hes been relegated to this.

But then again maybe there was something to the story? Either way no deal will be done for sure now.

As much as I dislike Bonnell, I think Sheridan owes him an apology. Maybe not now, but at least after the smoke clear of the 2013 NBA Draft, and MKG is still a part of the Charlotte Bobcats organization

Him stating that Bonnell was being misled was a low blow. You don't say stuff like that about other journalist, especially the beat writer covering his own team.

Sheridan is clueless. I saw a Bobcats fan ask him on twitter if the Hawks would give the 17 and 18 and John Jenkins for him.

Thats who Sheridan said the Hawks would trade for MKG.

Well of course the Hawks would, unless they're stupid.
