Bill and Jalen's NBA Preview - #26 Bobcats

Ugh.. one of these days there will be one member of ESPN who will realize that Michael Jordan is the owner of the team and Rich Cho, the GM, has been in fact building this current team for some time now.

Or is that too much to ask from people who call themselves NBA analysts?

To all the people whom I told that the video about us won't be that bad - I stand corrected.

I did nail the rest of my predictions though.

Funny, except for the MJ parts, I thought the rest of the video was pretty fair:

- Al Jeff is going to average 20 and 10
- MKG needs to learn how to shoot
- they like Kemba, best player on the team last year
- liked the Cody Zeller pick - they can do the high-low with him and Al
- won't make the playoffs

Also the bit where Jalen gets engaged before they make the playoffs again, that was a little low, but I think they make the playoffs next year. So Jalen has some time.

I'm just surprised they thought 4 teams were worse than us.
Who I woulda took:
2023: Miller | 2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: MPJ | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi

well, that was as expected. entertaining in parts. awful in parts. very lazy in parts.

simmons is slowly turning into the cliche ESPN/TNT analyst, which is the antithesis of what he was 5 years ago. the reason i always liked him previously was because of he vast knowledge of all the teams. i just dont think he has the time any more to watch teams outside of those big ESPN teams.

preview would have been so much better if they had lowe on as a 3rd analyst.

i really like jalen for what he brings to the discussion, but he is of no help when it comes to teams like the bobcats. i doubt he watched more than 5 of our games last year.

Now watch Zach Lowe become the modern day Bill Simmons 5 years from now.

so disappointing that people like simmons and rose still have no idea how to talk about the bobcats without blurting a bunch of irrelevant crap about MJ.

it will probably happen, and another young insightful writer will hopefully step up and take their place.

semi-related - basketball jones is moving to nbatv this year. how long before they start to suffer some of the same issues of focusing all their attention on a handful of teams each season while losing touch with the others?

the fact that Simmons has never been as focused on details as Lowe is makes me believe that it won't. he seems to be a real junkie who loves to rewind three month old game tapes of the Bucks, per example, just to have enough evidence for an argument he wants to make about a particular player's defensive lapses on his next column.

so far they've been promising us that nothing will change. but it's hard to imagine that. I seriously doubt that Skeets will now have the freedom to just randomly swear all over the place.

That was flat out **** awful. In a 13+ minute video, they spend 11 bashing MJ, one and a half minutes about Jefferson. thirty seconds talking about MKG's jumper, and they spend the last ten seconds on everything else.

Videos like this are why I say NBA analyst are by FAR the worst of the major sports. There are only 13-15 players on an NBA team and often they don't know the top 5 of a non playoff team unless they are looking right at it. On the other hand watch MLB Network and see Harold Reynolds go in depth on the entire Houston Astros roster and truly know the strengths and weaknesses of the roster.

NBA analyst are pure front runners and lazy....

These guys are a bunch of fuc*ing clowns. Really? They spent 3/4 of the show talking crap about the Bobcats (Suprise!). I honestly don't know why I bother watching these videos, I half expect these guys to maybe, idk do their **** jobs and report on a team instead of using the same exaggerated jokes like how college teams could beat the Bobcats. **** Bill and Jalen.

I didn't bother watching, and glad I didn't. Any time someone talks about how a college team could beat a pro team, they instantly go into my mental trash can.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

The problem is people shouldn't take Bill and Jalen seriously. I'm sure they're just as bored this off-season as we are, so they decided to make these videos. I've watched all of them so far because there is at least a slight bit of entertainment in them. It's something different from NBA analysts repeating the same thing in different ways.

Jalen talking about "importing" when playing in Utah was pretty funny. And the way they describe veteran players who are worthless is pretty comical as well.
