Butler or MKG?

Post#1 » by Sundis » Sat Oct 12, 2013 8:10 pm

Defensively...I'm interested to see what people on the Charlotte board think about these two guys defensively due to many discussions with my brother (Bobcats fan). Personally i feel Jimmy Butler is better, being a bulls fan! Now here I'm not on about stats completely, but more interested in people who have seen both play and can visually compare them.

we'll see when MKG ever plays in a game that matters. which will probably not be anytime soon. can't really compare a guy thats guarded the best for 40+ mpg in the playoffs to a 20 year old kid on a bottom 3 team

well MKG is the better defender i think

MKG per 36mins----13ppg,8rpg,2ast, 1.3blks and 1stl

Jimmy per 36mins-12ppg,5.5reb,2ast,.6blks and 1.3stl

MKG is clearly the better shot blocker and rebounder both are key in defense, MKG is about 15lbs bigger to and his combine results suggest he is a better athlete with a bigger wingspan (7" to 6.8") better sprint (3.18 to 3.31) and a better vert jump (35.5 to 34) and better standing reach by 3 inches

So in terms of athletic ability, rebounding, shot blocking and size MKG is better than Jimmy

I'm pretty sure Jimmy Butler beats puppies.

Yeah, if MKG gets a jumpshot I think he possibly leapfrogs Butler. I really like Jimmy (if you know his story you can't help not to) and sure, he's arguably the better player right now. No problem saying that as a Cats fan.

Butler is better right now. Id probably go as far as to say hes quiet a bit better, but hes 24, and MKG just turned 20. Big difference in age.

overall - butler is the better player right now.

defensively - i'd go with MKG. i can count on one hand the wings i would take over MKG on defense.

Disagree there. Jimmy Butler did a solid job on Lebron in the playoffs. At this stage, I'm not sure MKG could do the same. In fact, I doubt it. Give him two or three years, and I'll be kind of surprised if he doesn't.

Personally, I think MKG is better defensively by just visually looking at both play.

Butler did an amazing job on Lebron and one that can't be replicated too easily, however, I honestly have full confidence that MKG can have the same effect on LBJ but whether he has that confidence in himself isn't for certain. He is only 20 and has only been in this league for a year and all I believe he needs is that confidence and he WILL be an obvious elite defender.

Just to add, Butler has been put in a much better situation as to what MKG has. Going to a #1 seed as a late first round pick, he obviously doesn't have that pressure to perform which MKG does, being the #2 pick. The supporting cast last year for MKG also wasn't very good and his minutes were limited under an inept college coach.

MKG has shown he is well on his way to becoming a DPOY candidate in the future even if stats don't suggest so! As bobcats fans we all know how MKG does alot that the stats do not show us.
