Current contract situations aside, who would you rather on the Bobcats and why?

Present pro's and con's for each player.

EG. Matthews is essentially Henderson with a better three-ball. EG is an explosive combo guard that can average well over 20ppg when healthy and is an extremely good fit with Kemba.

Gordon for me as well. Problem with him is size and so far injury history.

Eric Gordon for sure. He's younger than Matthews having come out of Indiana after one year. Matthews has struggled with his weight some if I remember correctly? To me EG is just more athletic, he's quicker and a better all around shooter. Had contracts been involved this would have been a closer decision
Mike Malone was never given a fair chance in Sacramento, and Ranadive will soon come to regret that, when he's on top of the WC inevitably contending somewhere

Matthews is an underrated player. If I were in charge of such a decision, I'd rely a lot on what the medical staff could tell about Eric Gordon.

So does that mean that Gordon is over paid..................or Mathews under paid?

I feel like Gordon is overpaid. He is a great player, but I don't know that I would be willing to pay him the $14.2M that he makes. I referenced this yesterday in the Fake Trades thread

I think i like Wesley more

Last years stats
14.8ppg, 2.5ast, 2.8reb 1.3stl, 79.6FT% (83.3career) 39.8 3pt%, 44%shooting

Eric last year stats
17ppg,3.3ast, 1.8reb,1.1stl 84FT%, 32.4 3p%, 40% shooting

Eric averaged 14shots per game
Wesley averaged 12shots per game

Eric needs the ball a lot more than Wesley so that might hurt Kemba if Charlotte has a ball dominate SG

Wesley can guard 3 positions (PG,SG and SF)

Eric has NEVER played a whole season, 3 of Wesley's 4 NBA seasons he has played the whole season

and if you include contracts....Eric is more than double Wesley's contract

This is a difficult one but I'm going to side with Wesley Matthews because he would fit into our team culture better as a hardworking and unselfish locker room presence. Matthews can do almost everything that Eric Gordon can except he's less ball dominant. Matthews is slightly a better 3-point shooter and definitely a better a defender. Their statistic averages are similar even though Matthews has played on more talented teams and that's without mentioning how far apart their contracts are.

Wesley Matthews, and that's my final answer.

I like Wesley as a cheaper stopgap. Getting EG would be having him for the long haul and I don't like him enough to say I want him as our SG of the future.
