Bottom right: DeRozan, Crawford, Wade, Jeff Green, Parker, Barnes, Wiggins, Anthony, Hield

Top-left: Draymond, Roberson, MKG, Porter, Iggy, Tucker, Crowder

Meanwhile the Spurs keep Spuring for mysterious, abstract reasons.

Would be interesting to watch a game between the bottom right and the top left.

Allocate 2 upper rights to each side and upper lefts smoke those fools.

Here's some charts from NBA Math. Honestly, I've haven't done much research on TPA, but they seem to use it a lot. I thought it was interesting to see how everything stacks up as you zoom in from team-to-team to every player to just Hornets players after our first ten games.

Apparently Kemba's the 6th best offensive player in the league and Dwight is the worst. Defense is solid, but we've only had three above-average offensive players this season, Kemba obviously being miles ahead of the rest of the team. Only Marvin and Lamb in the good offense and good defense quadrant, Monk squarely in the bad quadrant.

From Schuhmann's power rankings this week:

Both Jeremy Lamb (27 points) and Dwayne Bacon (18) had career highs against the Spurs, but the Hornets lost both games because they were outscored by 45 points in 62 minutes with at least one reserve on the floor. No matter who has started, bench minutes have been critical. They're 4-0 when Frank Kaminsky has registered a plus-minus of zero or better, and 0-5 when his plus-minus has been negative.

Dwight's TOs are annoying, but we as a team still have the lowest TO% in the league, and that is with us playing the most difficult schedule so far and having played 5 of the top 10 teams (and 8 of the top 15) in opponent TO average.

We are currently 10th in the league in C&S 3P%. Unfortunately, we are 25th in 3PAs, and we attempt 10 less per game than the league leader.

Player net rating since Nic returned: http://stats.nba.com/team/1610612766/players-advanced/?sort=NET_RATING&dir=1&Season=2017-18&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&LastNGames=4

Nic's DRTG tho.

And Bacon has been non-great.

Our net rating for our starting lineup over that period is +16.1, whereas the net rating for our five man backup unit is -16.7.

Need to cut the rotation down to 8-9 players. Batum should be the de facto PG for the 2nd unit. Even Lamb can play some point.

Batum/Lamb/Monk would be a terrific backcourt trio for the second unit.

The key to this metric is that any player on the right side of the diagonal line is earning their keep in the rotation offensively vs defensively

Top Right = Good Offense, Good Defense
Bottom Right = Good Offense, Bad Defense
Top Left = Good Defense, Bad Offense
Bottom Left = Bad Defense, Bad Offense

Thoughts?

Batum and MKG need to play together the most, they are starting to develop what some of us expected (and hoped for, that was my case when he was traded here).
MCW is not bad at the creation - once Frank and alike will start to become more reliable witht their jumpers it should help his assist number - and his defense is obviously good from the eye test. Above all, he is sprinting back in transition and fouling when necessary (sometimes too much but he will probably learn this with Clifford with playing time) something that was a major weakness in the early season (except with Bacon to some extent).

But another very good wing defender (cheap) would be nice to have if Bacon does not improve significantly on this side of the court. A guy that can provide good help defense when teams are trying to exploit the weakest defenders from the bench (Frank, Lamb or Monk when he has mn who is by far the worst even though he has room to improve for his part).

Gonna need one of Monk, Lamb, Bacon, and Batum to shoot above 32% from three. Both Lamb and Batum are at 27% or below in our last 15.

Lamb has officially fallen back to earth. Not really his fault, he's been injured multiple times, but still we were kind of dumb not to see this coming, he's always been streaky

Since 12.15.17, CHA's net rating is ranked 7th in the league, yet we are below .500 over that same period (10-11). The next 8 teams in net rating below us all are at or over .500. https://cleaningtheglass.com/stats/league/fourfactors?start=12/15/17

I am starting to more and more believe that this team is more talented than its record indicates. Given that this has happened for two consecutive years, I really can't argue against replacing Cliff at this point.
