I hated it when my Sixers had to draft Michael Carter-Williams because I thought Trey Burke was going to fall into our lap until the Jazz stole him from us in a trade up with the T'Wolves. The regular season begun, and I started to fall in love with MCW's game, viewing him as a potential upgrade to Jrue Holiday whom I was never really too fond of. Now that MCW is catching all of these nagging injuries that have possible chronic tendencies, I'm starting to dislike the pick again knowing Philly's bad luck. A young player having continuous knee soreness is always a super red flag. Pardon me as I facepalm

Philly should put Evan Turner against JT, JT couldn't even guard a 1 legged horse in the Amazon stuck in quicksand

Beware of Spencer Hawes doing what Andrea Bargnani and Channing Frye did to us.

Beware of Evan Turner putting up 40 points on Taylor.

Beware of Clifford playing our bench too long into the 2nd and 4th quarters.

Beware of a loss to the Sixers that'll almost officially put us into tank mode.

Jefferson and Kemba should be able to hold us down for this win but I'm not so optimistic.

Without MKG I think we are in for a long losing streak unless Taylor finally lives up to being a good defender like all the beat writers and Clifford thinks that he is.

I had high hopes for JT, but I just don't see him turning into anything. When MKG comes off the court for 5 minutes theres a noticeable difference let alone 5 weeks. This is where the season starts to turn ugly sports fans

Or this is where he takes MKGs starting spot.. We shall see .

The Sixers lose their 6'6 point guard, and can back him up with Tony Wroten, another 6'6 point guard.

Convenient.

I'm not sure why people are jumping on JT's defense.

He doesn't force turnovers, but he's an above average man defender whose only real flaw is that he commits too many dumb fouls after being hit by screens. Comparing him to MKG is ridiculous as MKG is one of the best defenders in the league easily.

Sessions is the one that people should be pissed at imo

I am worried about Thad Young, we do not really have anybody who can match up with him effectively now. If we still had MKG I would of played a lot of small ball and let him guard Thad at the 4. Now we are gonna have to watch McBob get beat off the dribble all game...

I feel the same way as you. People jump on JT just because he's getting MKG's minutes.

I haven't had the time to watch the Sixers so I have to ask you - which player would you compare MCW to?

I'll tell you why some of us are jumping on JT. Because he's been the worst defensive player on the team. My eye test told me that every time Taylor came in the game that our opponents went at him as the weak link of our defense and then I went to BKRef to see if my 20/20 was deceiving me only to find out that Taylor has the worst defensive rating on the team other than Southerland who has only played about 5 minutes all season.

Another part of the reason why Taylor's defense take flack is because he's usually subbing out our best defender in MKG but that's not the sole premise. Taylor simply isn't a SF. He's too weak and can't rebound. I hope that answers your question. We're not nitpicking with Taylor. He's been that bad.

And I won't even go into detail about his offense. That's just as pitiful as his defense.

Viking is not a SF he should be played at SG where his size and strength become an advantage

any chance Rocky could guard Thad Young? or Zeller? with Biz rotating behind them for rim protection?

That's a good point. He does seem to be over-powered too often by opposing small forwards. I don't believe that he doesn't know how to defend any more either.

So maybe this is it. He did have the second best defensive rating on the team last year and if you look up his most frequent line-ups, he played as the 2-guard just as often as with the Sessions/Gordon duo.

I would compare MCW to Jrue Holiday. They have very similar playing styles, but the thing I like more about MCW is that he plays with more desire & aggressiveness than Holiday, who kind of played it cool & smooth on the court

Thaddeus Young will defend himself with bad shots, but if he's on tonight then the Bobcats are going to be in for a long night because they have nobody that can legitimately defend him since MKG is out

John (Philadelphia, PA)

Spencer Hawes three point display - sustainable or inevitable crash coming?

Amin Elhassan (4:19 PM)

Hawes has always been an above average perimeter shooter....I think he's developed a ton in that aspect
