We don't even need to make a backbreaking trade for a wing now. Jeremy Lamb who?! CDR is good enough to challenge Hendo and MKG for minutes but he'll serve perfect as a backup. Politics has kept him out of the league. He got game.

Chris Douglas-Roberts shares a story about practicing with Kobe Bryant

"A lot of ppl wondered why Bean spoke so highly of me last yr. First day of camp Mike Brown tried to throw me in the fire right away. Made me & Bean 1 on 1 partners for the whole first practice. What Mike Brown didn’t know is that’s what I was waiting for. That whole day we went head up. At one point it damn near came to blows bc Bean will do anything for an edge. So he was elbowing me on the low for separation & I couldn’t let that go as a competitor. As a man. The refs were too scared to call the foul bc he was intimidating them all practice. But at then end it was all love. The respect is mutual. Gave me some pointers that are priceless. It’s a misconception on Bean. Ppl think he’s a sucker…hard to play with. It’s just that he expects the most of his teammates bc he works so hard. Easily realist hooper I’ve met. He never lies and I respect that. #ClosestThingtoJordan #HeNeverSleepsEither#ImOut"

Gerald Henderson can't wait to sit around Chris Douglas-Roberts like a little kid around a campfire as he tell stories about playing with Kobe Bryant

Good callup from Cho.

Probably the most talented player in the D-League.

...but he defeated Russell Westbrook, Kevin Love, Darren Collison, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, & D.J. Augustin on his way there

I loss over $500 behind CDR & D-Rose missing those key free throws before Mario Chalmers hit that lucky 3-pointer to send it to overtime. Thank you for the reminder

I was going to post, jokingly, that CDR was MKG before MKG.

Did he say that before the draft? Presumably, he sees some parallels in their games. I would have been worried had I known, like I was when Otto Porter Jr. compared himself to Tayshaun Prince.

It's not a matter of talent as to why CDR isn't in the NBA. He just happen to be one of those players whom personality isn't always taken very well. In other words, he's not a kiss-ass.

Seriously though, I don't get why we like to use our 15th slot on some player we never give a shot to (Higgins, Southerland) instead of actually auditioning guys. I'm not saying we should bring in Marshall, but Curry could at least give us a nice shot in the arm from the 3-point line. You can't find a diamond without doing some digging.

Well... obviously I didn't see this coming.

Source confirms Charlotte Bobcats in process of signing D-Leaguer Chris Douglas-Roberts

The Charlotte Bobcats are in the process of signing Chris Douglas-Roberts, a 6-7 swingman currently playing in the NBA’s development league, an informed source confirmed Tuesday night.

The Bobcats’ interest in Douglas-Roberts was first reported by espn.com

Douglas-Roberts is averaging 18.7 points this season for the Texas Legends, a D-League team run by the Dallas Mavericks. He has 161 games of NBA experience since the 2008-09 season, playing stints with the Nets, Bucks and Mavericks.

In his NBA career, Douglas-Roberts averages 7.5 points, shooting 44 percent form the field and 28 percent from 3-point range.

The Bobcats are depleted by injury at the small forward position. They lost starter Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to a broken hand last week that will keep him out 4-6 weeks. The other primary option at the position, Jeff Taylor, has an inflamed left heel. Taylor missed Monday’s game against the Golden State Warriors and is questionable for Wednesday’s home game against the Orlando Magic.

Since the Bobcats are at the NBA maximum 15 players, they would have to waive a player to add Douglas-Roberts. The logical candidate might be undrafted rookie James Southerland out of Syracuse. He’s playing on an unguaranteed contract and played the fewest minutes on the team (three) this season

I like this move. I expect CDR to get BIG minutes until MKG is healthy. He'll put up stats. I might even pick him up for fantasy

^ Absolutely

Finally - a D-League call-up for this team that makes sense.

Unlike their usual pointless callups like 30-something Jemario Moon, CDR is highly skilled and still relatively young. He seems to have matured since his problem child, prima donna days that pushed him out of the league.

He can score and his outside shot is much improved since his time in NJ as a rookie.

With Gilchrist and Taylor hurt, there is no reason CDR should not be starting at SF and playing 30+ mins.

It should be compelling to see what he can do if Clifford gives him meaningful burn.

I've always liked CDR's game. TBH I never even knew where - what happened to him. So he's playing in the D-League huh. Now he's a Bobcat...nice.
