#29 Charlotte Bobcats
Current value: $410 million
Revenue: $115 million
Operating profit: $7 million
The Bobcats scored the lowest average TV rating (0.55) and average audience size (6,000) in the NBA during the 2012-13 season on Fox's SportSouth. Team owner and NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan has pumped millions of dollars into the money-losing franchise for working capital since buying it for $175 million in 2010. The Bobcats were also among the league's top beneficiaries of the NBA's revenue-sharing system last season.
gotta get that TV stuff figured out. only 6000 people watching games on tv is criminal.

IF Forbes' value estimate is accurate -- and I question whether someone would pay $410 million -- Michael Jordan has made a tidy gain.

Based on Forbes' estimate, the Bobcats are worth $410 million (just ahead of the Bucks). That's a 30 percent rise from 2013.

For those going nuts about Forbes latest "valuations" every executive and owner in sports - massively downplays those numbers

Of course owners would downplay those numbers.

Actually, I'm not surprised. I like about a mile from UNCC and only about 15 mins from the heart of downtown Charlotte and I don't get the games at my place. My buddies live about 5 minutes from me, they have DISH and they don't get the game either. It's possible that it's not just a fan base apathetic towards watching but rather that Fox SportsSouth isn't getting to enough broadcasting companies, because if I got the station I would be watching every single game

It's an odd situation when us International fans can just stream every game live and people who live in the same neighbourhood as TWC can't even watch it on TV.
Absolutely criminal but I believe the blackout will be fixed from next season?

I'm pretty sure that the minute our name change is done, we'll be worth 500+m.
The Kings sold for over 500m and they aren't close to the marketing machine that the Buzz generates.
MJ is an excellent businessman.

Jordan bought this team for pennies on the dollar. He could call Chris Hansen and his Seattle group and they would purchase this team for upwards of 600+ million right now to get them to relocate right now. Id say hes more than happy with his investment.

Which is why to me it makes no sense to can the tank intentions at this point.
Despite having 28 wins over the last 2 seasons combined, we have gone up in value by 235m or at least 235m more than MJ paid.

Most if not every franchise is going up in franchise. That includes the NFL and MLB.

Apparently even despite allegedly being a laughingstock of the league we are more valuable than Milwaukee.
Mind Boggling.

Milwaukee needs a new arena badly. That chit can they play in right now is terrible.

Yeah, but saying the Bobcats are more valuable than the Bucks is like saying someone is more mentally stable than Dennis Rodman, someone is skinnier than Boris Diaw, and someone is a better passer than Ben Gordon.
