It was nearly 70 degrees out here in Columbia yesterday. Now here we are, in sub-freezing temperatures all day, expecting snow.

no, not excited. i have to work regardless of weather. now i am at work in fort mill and i have a 40 min commute back home later tonight, in the snow, in heavy traffic. will probably take me 2 hours to get home instead of 40.

do you work in fort mill and live in charlotte? i'm still seeing reports of snow starting anywhere from 3pm to 5pm. the closer it hits to 5 the worse the traffic will be heading home as everyone will be clogging the roads at the same time. about 3 years ago we had a similar situation where it started snowing around 5 or 6. i left work around 6:30 and didnt get home unitl 8:30 and that was only with about two inches. i usually go 77 to westinghouse, to south, to sharon west etc and head my way toward southpark that way. the big hill on sharon rd west was a graveyard of wrecks.

I've seen reports from 1-2 inches to 4-8 inches of snow for Columbia over the next 24 hours. We haven't gotten anything yet though. Classes were canceled at USC today, and I assume they will be tomorrow if anything significant happens (as in more than .1 inches)

I remember the ice storm almost a decade ago. It took me 6 hours to get home from Ballentyne to University Area

luckily we made the call to leave work at 4 and beat the ice/snow and traffic. working from home now. barely any snow on the road at my house, but that might be worse, since the ice will be bad later.

Lots of people in my neighborhood lost power in that. I remember we were housing like 15 people for days because of it. That was way more than a decade ago.

Yes it was cold last month. Been living here all my life and never experienced multiple days with temperatures in the teens and in single digits.

Looks like we will get hit again this Tuesday and Wednesday. Snow is good for kids since school will probably be canceled, but us grown ups still will have to drive to work or take a sick/vacation day to get off.
