Who do you guys think is in control...?

...of building this team? Cho or Jordan? I just think that Jordan is highly involved in GMing in the same way Jerry Jones is for the Dallas Cowboys.
I don't know about you guys but if I have a bad team, I don't take safe picks, I take boom or bust guys. The MKG/Zeller picks just seems like they are picking guys who they feel will be at least decent. Basically trying to avoid a mistake instead of swinging for the fences and maybe striking out.

Zeller and Biyombo were Cho guys. Kemba who is the beat player we've drafted was a Jordan guy. We passed on Drummond because Cho still believes in Biyombo. So that provides a clue on who calls the shots.

Drummond was never going to be drafted at #2 no matter who was making the call or even what team had the #2 pick.

obviously Cho. you couldn't convince me that MJ would make the call to draft Bismack/MKG/Zeller. Why would MJ even bother hiring Cho if he was going to run the team anyway? Especially since Cho lost his job in Portland for refusing to be a yes man for ownership.
MJ running the team is a nice media narrative and for the talking heads who don't want to bother actually learning about a team. but it doesn't hold up

Cho has control of player personnel. Jordan did not want to draft Zeller. He damn near raged a war in the draft room when he found out that Cho was going to reach to draft Zeller. Every owner in the NBA that know about basketball will have some kinda input when it come to what players they want on their team but Jordan is not in control, Cho is.

Thanks guys.
If it is Cho then he whiffed on almost all his picks, wouldn't you agree?

The MKG pick is not a whiff and not bad like a lot of people would try to make it out to be. We are a top-10 defense and MKG is the main reason for that. We were a top 3 defense until MKG got injured for a month and now that he's back we're getting back to top notch defense. The things that MKG do on the floor doesn't always appear in the stat sheet.
I could also make a case for Biz too as not being a whiff since he's almost a elite rim protector based on a lot of advanced stats and he's only what 21 years old. Biz could be just as good as per se Miles Plumlee is for the Suns in our starting lineup and we were winning with him there earlier in the season when Jefferson was hobbled by a sprained ankle.
Now the Zeller pick! That was a whiff. He is horrible...but he supposedly has a high basketball IQ, elite athleticism for a 7 footer, and can run the floor like a deer. I never would've taken him at #4.

The question isnt Cho or MJ. the question is Cho or Rod Higgins. MJ is definitely not running things and never has been running things, contrary to what media heads like to say.

i feel like Cho and Higgins are both talking turns running things, or Cho is dragging Higgins around because he knows Higgins is dumb as a box of melted crayons, Jordan is being the owner now he isn't running things anymore he is just signing checks and having babies

draft grades
Kemba-A borderline All-Star
MKG-B+ does all the little things and has elite defensive potential
Biz-B- slowly but surely figuring things out
JT-B+ would've preferred Green but JT is still a solid 3 & D player for a 2nd rounder
Zeller-C- so far he has sucked but everyone else CHA would've drafted has sucked also or hasn't played (Len,McLemore,Noel)

Man there are so many choices that could have been better, but none possibly better than trading down a couple of spots and taking Drummond. Brother Dave was right...he preached for us to make a move and take him, even for taking him with our pick if we couldn't trade down a few to get him. This guy is coming on strong.

Jordan has final say, but I think he leaves a lot to Cho. Zeller was a terrible pick. You can try to justify it, but its impossible. Remember the reaction when Zeller was drafted the high? Everyone was angry. You can't tell me that your jaw didn't drop when you heard Cody Zeller. And he's been really bad. Cho better not miss again like that, or it could be his job

I'm positive Cho/Higgins are running the show and they simply take turns whiffing on fastballs. Mike Dunlap was 100% Higgins and he fell in love with Dunlap's coaching when he was scouting Mo Harkless.
Zeller was a Cho pick and a total reach. Jordan really, really wanted Oladipo, but Orlando was in love with the kid too. I want to say Cho really wanted Biyombo too.
Jordan wanted Walker and wanted the Bobcats to make a splash last summer and sign a significant free agent. So ultimately, the Jefferson signing was his call.

Nice, but let's be realistic:
Kemba: B
MKG: C
JT: C-
Biyombo: D-
Zeller: D-
Of course, a lot of the guys around these picks would get a similar grade or worse from me. Give me your best, Biyombo Fan Club.

Zeller was a bad pick no way should he have been picked at 4, he probably shouldnt have been top 10, he isnt playing very well this season. If cho wanted him he probably should have traded down the draft.

taking advantage of this topic, there´s something that I want to ask.
I´m from Europe (Spain). The basket and soccer teams just have a GM on the font office responsible for making decisions for make the roster.
In USA you have a GM (Cho in this case) and a president of basket operations (Higgins in this case).
My question is: What is the difference between a GM and a President of basket operations? Which is the function of each one? It´s really necessary have both?

we have been asking this same question. we have no clue on the different roles for higgins and cho, other than technically, higgins is cho's boss. i asked bonnell this same question during training camp and it didnt seem like he had an answer either.
if anyone knows, lets hear it.
