12 Questions at the Break - Bonnell

Post#1 » by fatlever » Sun Feb 16, 2014 6:40 pm

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2014/0 ... wEFNYVFCdA

Is Al Jefferson worth the $13.5 million a season they’re paying him?

What will Kemba Walker be worth when he comes off the rookie pay scale?

How will the remaining schedule affect the Bobcats’ playoff chances?

Is Bismack Biyombo becoming a bust?

Was it worth assuming Ben Gordon’s contract?

Who will they battle for those last couple of playoff spots in the East, and what are those teams’ prospects?

What are their chances of winning a first-round series?

Is Steve Clifford finally their long-term solution as a head coach?

Is it time yet to question Cody Zeller’s NBA potential?

Why is Josh McRoberts important to this team?

Does Kidd-Gilchrist look like a No. 2 overall pick?

Has this Hornets campaign made a difference?

Bonnell kills me with his complete lack of any sort of knowledge of the game.

he writes basketball articles for the general uninformed masses and not hardcore basketball fans like us. its frustrating because he has such great access to the team and players, yet he never really gives us anything other than fluff. i think he really underestimates the fanbase. in the era of sites like grantland which break down the game and players in great detail, readers are not going to pay attention to fluff pieces like this.

Answers

1-Yes he is under payed if anything
2-I think he will get about 8million
3-Hurt it, March is brutal
4-No this might be his best season even tho he isn't playing much, emerging as an elite rim protecter outside of just blocks
5-Yep, got us out from Maggette the yeti and we can trade it for something decent
6-Knicks,DET,BRK and others....all talented but have chemistry problems and inconsistency
7-Slim to none if we get 7 or 8 seed
8-Yep he has done great, need to work on rotations more
9-No, still a rookie with new role and position and stuff, the whole rookie class has sucked outside 3 or 4 players
10-He can pass in the "McBob offense"
11-Depends ,what is a #2 pick supposed to look like? very good defense but needs to be aggressive
12-Yes, gives the fans something to look forward to and best colors in NBA also gets rid of worst name "Bobcats" is horrid

Did Bonnel just gave some credit to MKG ...? :o

However, that doesn’t address how important Kidd-Gilchrist has been to Clifford’s defense, particularly after Jeff Taylor was lost for the season with a ruptured Achilles tendon

Is Al Jefferson worth the $13.5 million a season they’re paying him?
obviously. dumb question

What will Kemba Walker be worth when he comes off the rookie pay scale?

Gerald Wallace first big contract with us. 9-10 mil

How will the remaining schedule affect the Bobcats’ playoff chances?
March looks tough, April looks easy. overall pretty balanced. shouldnt be an excuse

Is Bismack Biyombo becoming a bust?

no. dumb question. Bismack has made huge steps this year. leave it to Rick to analyze as deep as ppg/rpg. hell you can tell from the eye test that he is much better. guess Rick can't

Was it worth assuming Ben Gordon’s contract?

obviously yes. get a pick to at the time hit the required contract floor. dumb question

Who will they battle for those last couple of playoff spots in the East, and what are those teams’ prospects?

same as ours, getting bounced

What are their chances of winning a first-round series?

0 unless we play the Raptors. then 65%. we are better than them

Is Steve Clifford finally their long-term solution as a head coach?

hasnt shown any reason to think otherwise.

Is it time yet to question Cody Zeller’s NBA potential?

past time

Why is Josh McRoberts important to this team?

watch him

Does Kidd-Gilchrist look like a No. 2 overall pick?

Don't see how hes any worse than Oladipo or Derrick Williams, the 2nd overall picks after and before him. so, yes?

Has this Hornets campaign made a difference?

difference in what? personally don't care but obviously its increasing revenue and interest in the team locally.

I can't believe a guy gets paid actual money to write this garbage. If Rick used a pseudonym he wouldn't make the cut on bleacher report

Is Al Jefferson worth the $13.5 million a season they’re paying him? go look up other 20/10 big men and see how many of them make less than he does.

What will Kemba Walker be worth when he comes off the rookie pay scale? I'd say about 9-10 million. We need to lock him up with an extension THIS SUMMER before he gets attention next season. It's highly unlikely he makes less than what Jeff Teague got.

How will the remaining schedule affect the Bobcats’ playoff chances? all depends on the trade deadline. if we don't improve, it's a complete toss-up.

Is Bismack Biyombo becoming a bust? absolutely not. his defense and rebounding are right where I expected them to be at this stage. At 21, he's got a long time.

Was it worth assuming Ben Gordon’s contract? hell yes. his contract didn't stop us from getting Big Al and we got more cap space coming this summer, along with a potential lotto pick from the deal. Suck it Pistons!

Who will they battle for those last couple of playoff spots in the East, and what are those teams’ prospects? Everyone between 3-9 are practically a toss-up.

What are their chances of winning a first-round series? Seeds 3-6 will be a complete toss-up. We have 0.1% chance of beating Indy or Miami if we managed only 7-8 seed.

Is Steve Clifford finally their long-term solution as a head coach? Yeah. I like his defensive mentality a lot. Needs to work on offense though.

Is it time yet to question Cody Zeller’s NBA potential? I think we already have. He's going nowhere till he bulks up, so there's that.

Why is Josh McRoberts important to this team? great fit next to Al. Shoots, passes, doesn't take many shots away... Wish he'd defend better though.

Does Kidd-Gilchrist look like a No. 2 overall pick? Can't make a case for him over Davis, Drummond, or Lillard, but you can say that about just about every #2 pick ever. He's a complete stud on the less glamorous side of the game, so he'll stay under the radar but be a huge impact player on defense.

Has this Hornets campaign made a difference? we'll see next year.

Still waiting on Bonnell to admit he was completely wrong about James Harden, but I'm sure he'll move onto something else to irrationally hate on.

He is the worst beat writer in the league, and by a very wide margin.

His twitter account is about useless. He just retweets literally about anything Stephen Curry says. Hes been riding Kendall Marshalls jock of late as well.

This board is going to explode into a mushroom cloud when Biyombo is released in 2015.

Imagine the outlook of this team had Detroit selected Kemba instead of Brandon Knight, leaving Knight to be taken by Charlotte at #9th overall. The core of this team would've been full of raw players, Biyombo, Knight, MKG, and Zeller

I would hope we had the presence of mind to pick Klay or Kawhi, two players who were obviously going to be studs. I remember being frustrated that we didn't pick Kawhi, because I thought he was going to be the next Gerald Wallace and of course I was still frustrated that we traded Gerald Wallace.

Bonnell's Twitter:

-Jocking Stephen Curry (did you know he's Dell Curry's son?!?!).
-Mocking fans for their basketball opinions.
-Being a douche to fans.
-Bobcats news (because who else is going to report it).
-Never admitting he's wrong about anything.
-Always admitting fans are wrong about everything.
-Pointless RT's of Bobcats, Duke and Tarheel players.
-Mocking fans for their basketball opinions.

I'll still never forget Bonnell saying he was "glad" the Bobcats didn't trade for James Harden because he's "overrated and overpaid."

Also Bonnell said something to the likes of "#1 overall draft picks are overrated because they never win championships with their original team."

This x1000000.

Bonnell legitimately thinks his Sh*t doesn't stink. He's so condescending towards fans on twitter, it's unbelievable. Then if you try to have a conversation with him that he doesn't agree with, he blocks you.

just wow. a person who has seen two or three of our games could open up basketball-reference and write this column. and this unfortunately has been Bonnell's biggest piece all season long.

now this **** will retweet the average fans who praise this article as if it was something exceptional.

I really like his "Biz has shown no improvements, his numbers are the same." Yes, his numbers haven't improved but he's also played significantly less minutes.

I'm not the biggest Biz fan in the world, but he absolutely needs more minutes. Like others have said, I would like to see him in the lineup with Al. Unfortunately spacing might not be what we want since we have absolutely zero shooters.
