Id like to see what kind of stats he could put up if he played 30+ minutes a night.

if he keeps playing like he has recently he could get 13-15 points and 7+ rebounds and a few assists

cant deny he has been improving statistically. but he still doesnt pass eye test to me. maybe its bias but I'm pretty sure he still sucks. but it doesnt surprise me his statistical improvement has come with a massive drop in his jump shots. he just isnt a shooter

He'd lose his effectiveness playing 30 minutes. I like him in his role right now, about 15 minutes a game coming off the bench. He can't bang with NBA big men for much longer at this point.

Without peeking, who has the higher PER?
Cody Zeller or Michael Kidd-Gilchrist?
Worst pick in history or franchise savior?

Not to take anything away for Zeller's slight improvements into a player that at least resembles serviceability, but that's how bad and/or unproductive MKG has been lately even though many don't want to admit it

Not that I'm a big fan of PER or even Zeller for that matter, he's not too far off many of the other rookies...
Oladipo - 13.53
Burke - 12.93
Hardaway - 12.42
Giannis - 11.77
Zeller - 11.41
Adams - 11.25
McLemore - 7.34
Bennett - 7.03
and just for fun, Jeff Taylor has a 6.05 PER for the season.

the shooting percentages just kill Taylor's season to the point that even Bennett is above him. a horrible shooting year for JT.

He looked really solid tonight. He doesn't look like a deer in headlights anymore. Seems to be comfortable.

He is 100% a defensive role player right now. That's not even questionable at the moment. Stats will tell you exactly zero percent of his impact on the court.

One thing I noticed more than most other things is how he makes a concerted effort to attack the rim. He has tried a lot more lately to get a put back dunk and get himself going. Love the defense he's showing too, getting those batted passes for a fast break. Finally starting to look comfortable

Right where he should be, based on how everyone else has played. I would be ecstatic if Zody rose into the top 3 by the end of the season and made the rookie 1st team.

I'm happy that Cody is starting to look like a player because I thought he might have one of those historic worst rookie seasons the way how it was in going the beginning up until the past 2-3 weeks. I love the way how he's hustling and running the floor. I still wish he desert the midrange jumper until after a full offseason of working on it but I must admit that I'm starting to see the light in him.

Cody is basically a lock to be top ten from this class no matter how bad he is, it will be an achievement if more than a dozen players from this draft are still in the league in 5-7 years imo.
At least our FO took a guy that gives us a little bit of everything and is a likeable, intelligent, hard working guy.
If he can give us the minutes he has lately for the rest of his career, he's a value pick even if he is a role player.

Exactly, but I'm "afraid" he's gonna be bigger than that.
Cody is a talented guy, both gamewise and physically, the thing is he just wasn't NBA ready. As he adjusts to NBA pace, his talents become more and more obvious. I didn't expect him to be a serious player this season, but he's just proved he's a rotation player already.

I agree that he can be a starter in the long run, but he's got a way to go.
