Hornets Need Wings To Sting! - The SG/SF Upgrade Thread

Post#1 » by mrknowitall215 » Sun Apr 27, 2014 11:37 pm

The official re-brand of the Charlotte Hornets is approaching us slowly but surely, and as it stands we are still the Bobcats. It only make sense to still be the Bobcats, because Bobcats have legs, which is something just to stand on & be able run with, but the re-introduction of the Hornets need to have wings --- wings so that they can fly high to deliver a sting and keep the fans buzzing

I listed a list of wing options for the Hornets on the poll, and feel free to vote your choice & then explain your thoughts via posting a reply

evan turner is at the bottom of my list, followed by jeff green. after that, its a tough call. i guess my 1st choice would be hayward, then afflalo, then stevenson.

1. hayward
2. afflalo

3. stevenson

4. green

5. turner

1a) Lance Stephenson.
1b) Arron Afflalo.

Jeff Green and/or Gordon Hayward as distant backup 2nd/3rd options.

We need some nasty on this team. This team laid down and died right there on the court last night. It was my buddy's first basketball game that we went to see last night, and even he could tell that we gave up.

Hayward - best fit for the needs of the team
Stephenson - best talent but a head case

Green- decent player nothing great nothing terrible

Turner - not the shooter we need

Afflalo - price is to high for an older one year wonder

1-Hayward- best fit and he can shoot
2-Stephenson- would be #1 but he is a nut
3-Afflalo-Best shooter of the bunch but we would have to trade
4-Green-Good but makes to much and Boston will want to much
5-Evan Turner- cant shoot or do anything better than the others

There are other options that I'd prefer, but I voted for Lance Stephenson at $6-8 million for 3 years (3 years/$20 million) or $10 million for 1 year, if that's his market value like I'm expecting

If Gerald Henderson could be traded in a package for Jeff Green, that would be preferable too

Trade Gerald Henderson & Portland 1st rounder for Jeff Green

Sign Lance Stephenson for $8 million annually max

I voted for Gordon Hayward because he best fits on this
team, he's not a head case, he can shoot very well, and just seems to have a good attitude about the game.

If Lance could be controlled in the locker room I would vote him instead.

Edit: Although, if we could trade Hendo and get Green or Afflalo I would pick that
Option anyday. I can't say it enough, it's time for Hendo and this organization to part ways

Basically this.

Could definitely look into upgrading the SF spot as well depending on how MKG progresses throughout the Summer.

would you consider trading henderson + detroit pick in a sign in trade for hayward? we could sign hayward to more than what hendo makes (because 6mil wont get it done) since we are under the cap.

we tempt the jazz with a sign and trade to convince them to not match the hayward salary. can anyone even remember a sign and trade with a restricted free agent?

I would do that, and Brandon Jennings was a restricted FA and he got traded in a sign and trade

I voted for Jeff Green. Stephenson cant shoot. Hayward isnt athletic enough and isnt a great shooter nor defender, and I dont know about his ability to break someone down and score. Turner is like Stephenson, no jump shot, not athletic. I think Green is a stud though and is much better than the others.

Ariza is a option, but he fell into the 'other' category, not enough buzz generating around his name and he would be just another run-of-the-mill but solid acquisition

yeah, i would have parsons at least on the same level as hayward.

i am going by the realgm free agent tracker, so correct me if any of those names are wrong.

I really do not want to give up our Detroit pick plus a reserve SG for Hayward. Yes Hendo is not very good but his best role is as a role player off the bench. You give up 2 assets to get one, verses signing Lance as a FA while giving up nothing. That pick could be a lottery pick; we will need another one that really works out for us.

I voted for Lance because he is a guy with a high potential. That assumes a reasonable contract, which I think can get done due to the implosion we've seen late season and into the playoffs with the Pacers.

I am still not convinced Hyphen will reach anything beyond Gerald Wallace levels. Still too soon to get a SF via free agency, but I would be open to a high-quality trade if one were to develop.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I would be surprised if Chandler Parsons isn't a lock to be re-signed in Houston
