Re: 2014 Draft Lottery Thread
of the teams below the pistons that could jump ahead of them, giving us the 9th pick, which of those teams in the 9-14 spots would you prefer to see move up?
cleveland
new orleans (they keep their pick if they move into top 3)
denver
orlando (could happen in theory, if both denver and knicks move into top 3, denver would get the better of the two picks and the other pick goes to the magic)
minnesota

Denver would be my choice. I wouldn't hate it if the Cavs picked third either. I'd be pissed if the Pelicans jumped into the top 3 or god forbid the Pistons.

Re: 2014 Draft Lottery Thread
Apologies in advance to Mr KIA but I want to see the Pelicans hit the jackpot and keep their pick. I want the Sixers rebuild to slow down a bit since I forecast the Eastern Conference opening up big time and with a potential cache of talent they're a threat. Cavs are a threat. Orlando is a threat.
Conversely, a team out West is not a threat.
I'd love to see one of: Parker, Embiid or Wiggins move out West.
I'd like to see the Kings win as well since they finished close to the Pistons. I wouldn't mind seeing them win the lottery and the Pistons keeping their pick. They are also out West. Same with the Jazz

I'm just hoping we don't take Andrew Wiggins. I want Jabari Parker with our 1st pick and one of James Young or Zach LaVine with the Pelicans pick
It's more likely that the Pistons pick fall to 9th before the Pelicans pick jump into the top-5

Hey, it was a great trade (dealing overrated Jrue Holiday for top prospect Nerlens Noel & a lightly protected Pelicans 1st rounder). Hopefully Cho has the brass to do such

You want the 2 players on the Sixers that I most want on the Hornets. i'm high on Parker, Young and LaVine.

I think Cho could land 1 (or 2) of those players too, if he was willing to part with his Zeller project
Where would you project Zeller in this 2014 draft class?
I would project Zeller somewhere between the #10-20 range, after Dario Saric, leveled with Kyle Anderson/Clint Capela, and right before Adreian Payne

Well I like Zeller so I think he will become as much of an impact player as Aaron Gordon. Knowing what I know now he's a top 10 pick in my book. Good things happen when you're 7 ft and athletic. I really think there's a good chance another GM is also really high on Zeller. So it would be interesting if we got Vonleh and spun Zeller + 24 for James Young. I like Young more than LaVine because he's more NBA ready and can play both SG and SF. Even though LaVine can play PG and becomes a second ballhandler, I don't want to wait for him. He's more of a project than Zeller imo.
Vonleh - Young would be a coup
Kemba Walker-PG/FA
James Young-SG/Henderson/Neal
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist-SF/Young/Taylor
Greg Monroe-PF/Vonleh
Al Jefferson/Biyombo
A lot is riding on James Young there, which is why I want to figure out a way to get Tim Hardaway Jr. I'm starting to feel like I would even take Felton off their hands and send pick 24 to get him.

Like I would rather do Zeller + 24 for Hardaway Jr. than for James Young.
I want more of a sure thing as SG if MKG is to stay the starter at SF.
I think we're signing Monroe so I don't expect money spent on SF.

I don't even know if I should consider this a compliment or insult. I'm leaning towards insult, but I'm not much of a Zeller (or Gordon) fan, so this is about on par

I'm just insinuating he's a top 10 pick who may or may not belong there. Very tenuous. It could go either way but the athleticism, size and potential is there.

You think we're signing, drafting, or trading for whatever name the rumor mill bring up. I highly doubt Charlotte sign Greg Monroe unless Cho has a trick up his sleeve where he's going to trade Zeller & let McRoberts walk if he opt out, and even then I think it would be far fetched

Zeller was originally projected outside of the top-10 last draft class going into draft day, and that was one of the weakest draft classes ever. I seriously doubt that he'd be considered a top-10 pick in this draft class, which is consider mildly strong

Well this team is built around Kemba. Al can opt out in one year. He's older and injury prone so I don't see a deal beyond this one. At best he's gone in 2 years.
Kemba has been groomed to pick and roll with a post scorer which is why Monroe fits long term and I buy the rumor. I also think it hurts the Pistons and increases the value of their pick, making it possible to make other contingency moves. I'd love to turn pick 24 into Hardaway Jr. and the Pistons pick into something significant when Jefferson enters his walk year or opts out.

But knowing what I know now, I'd take him top 10. He's comparable to Gordon in that there's a cloud of doubt that he doesn't belong where he will get picked.

Zeller didn't do nothing that overtly impressed or gave me optimism moving forward, but I like his energy & motor. Unlike McRoberts, I like that Zeller took pride in rebounding and defense, but McRoberts held his own under the radar when I examined advance stats. McRoberts just happened to box out and be in position defensively better than Zeller, therefore superficially it appeared that McRoberts was detrimental to team rebounding & defense
