9 needs to be a starter.

If they pick McDermott, it would indicate there's a strong offer for MKG or that the Hornets are ready to move on from him and his shooting woes.

McDermott getting time at PF in the NBA is not happening imo, not with Zeller there, infatuation with McRoberts and/or possible interest in Greg Monroe.

NO.

MKG and McDermott can coexist in the lineup together, they are perfectly complementary. Stop being bogged down with antiquated positions.

McDermott could eventually start at SF with MKG starting at the 2

I don't think a position switch is in the cards for a project whose broken shot requires so much time to fix. Plus he needs instruction time for learning defense without making poor decisions that lead to untimely fouls.

If Tony Allen can play the 2 so can MKG

I've said my piece, now I shall forever exit this thread.

Certain conditions have to be there for McDermott to be drafted.

Otherwise, it's Stauskas imo. He's every bit the shooter, plays SG with play making and ball handling skills and you won't have to move any project to a new position.

I don't get why you can't just put McBuckets at the 2. Sure he's slow. Thats why we have MKG guard the better wing player.

We're not the bobcats anymore, we don't draft busts

Doug is way better than Morrison. Its not even close.

Doug can shoot the orange out of the ball with an unassuming quick release. Any player like that has a place in the league. Morrison was more of a scorer whose height allowed him to shoot over smaller defenders. If his 3 PT shot wasn't falling then he was useless. Also didn't McB test out to be much better athletically than Morrison

I'm really not a fan of McDermott and I honestly think that Ammo was a better pro-prospect as well.

Best case scenario - He's 'pretty good' and never an all-star.
Everything else - he's luke walton with a better jumper

No. He's not NBA game athletic. Stauskus has handles and a shot. JUST SAY NO TO MCDERMOTT. Let another team draft him.

I am almost 100% positively sure Doug McDermott will be a very good player in the NBA, but I don't think he'll be All-Star caliber. McDermott will fall into that category of borderline All-Star, Swiss Army knife type of players a la current NBA hybrid forwards like Nicolas Batum & Chandler Parsons

My best NBA comparison would be Wally Szczerbiak. For those that may not remember or even heard of Szczerbiak, he was the identical player of McDermott as a high-end scorer playing for a mid-major over a decade ago that moderately translated that success as a scorer into being a quality NBA starter for years

I wouldn't recommend Charlotte to draft him because it'll cause a logjam that'll force the Hornets to choose between MKG or McDermott. I know many want to believe that MKG can be interchangeable at the wing position with McDermott in the lineup, but I doubt the front office or coaching staff would view it in that manner. It would only be a matter of time before MKG is on the trade block

All in all, McDermott is still on my shortlist of wanted players at 9th overall, just not in my top possibilities

I have read somewhere that MJ didn't even want to consider Drummond because of his Kwame debacle. So I hope he won't go near McDermott because of Ammo.

I just have an awful (beyond bad) feeling about Doug getting drafted by the Hornets and busting just like Ammo. While I do not claim that I have seen him play numerous times, from the limited times I did see him and what I read about him, he is closer to Dunlyvey than Parsons or WallyS. I would pass on him

I thought Stun might have gone more for the Chris Mullin comparison instead of bird.
