Charlotte Hornets Big Board #1
For those of you who are new to the board, every year we create a big board based which serves as a communal ranking of the players in the draft. At each spot we will proving a handful of choices to choose from. Select the player from the list who you think would be the best player for the Hornets. This is not a mock draft. Trading the pick is not an option, since this is big board ranking.
We will keep the polls open for two days through the first 10 picks, then probably move to one a day as we get deeper in the draft.
If the player you want is not in the poll, please select "other" and then make a post stating who your choice for "other" was.

Is this a discussion thread as well, or just post if you select other and keep your comments about your opinion in one of the other draft threads? Don't wanna bog a thread down if that is not the intention of it.

yeah, more for just posting in the poll and stating your pick, if other. its always gets messy at draft time with discussion spilling into several threads.

Re: Charlotte Hornets Big Board #1
Maybe a lot of it stems from the fact we aren't in a position to draft any of these guys, so maybe it's my brain's way of coping on the possibility of missing out on a franchise player, but I'm not as impressed by the guys at the top of the draft as I was last season.
I think they'll turn out to be good players, but I don't think any of them will be that James/Durant type of franchise-changing talent.
I also wouldn't be surprised if at least one of the "big three" completely busts; my choice is that Embiid guy.
Either way, I selected Wiggins, after all the hype from previous years.

Wiggy.
• Jaw dropping athlete that we don't have.
• Media buzz = more fans = more $$$.
• Fits Cho-file (character, defense, etc).
• Unlike other past picks, has a jumpshot that looks fixable sooner than later.

Wiggins has the tools to be the next Lebron. He can be a great defender and good from 3 as well, and we all know how sick he is in transition.
Wiggins and MKG can play together, we could make it work.
Personally I think Cleveland would be dumb to pass him up for Embiid or Parker.

Re: Charlotte Hornets Big Board #1
I took Parker.
I feel Embiid is very injury prone and his presence at the top of mocks reminds me eerily of Oden over Durant.
Wiggins is the best athlete but I feel athleticism has become a crutch for scouts/analysts due to shorter stays in college and the smaller samples they leave in their wake. When many of these elite athletes remain in school and the sample size increases we see their flaws more clearly and how their athleticism cannot help them overcome deficiencies in certain skills.
Jabari Parker is an amazing, polished, poised basketball player without needing elite athleticism. He will step in and impact the game right away. He will be an effective player, like Paul Pierce, even as he starts to slow down physically because he has so many tools and trinkets in his toolbox. He knows the game and you just can't take that away from him, not now and not over time.
Parker.

Embiid.
That combination of size, smarts, grace, two way play and upside is generational.

Definitely Wiggins. I love Embiid and Exum, but Wiggins is in a tier by himself.

I went with Wiggins, Embiid's back worrys me, Parker isn't a good defender, i feel that Wiggins can dominate on defense and offense and doesn't have injury problems

Think the player who has the ability to be most dominant is Embild. Really can make a case for any of the top 3.

I went with Wiggins, though I don't necessarily buy into the level of hype that's been heaped upon the kid.
