Which prospect could fall to 9 and who replaces him?

I think most likely to fall out of most mocks top 8 is Aaron Gordon.

I think Saric could take his place. Or maybe Zach LaVine.

It's possible Aaron Gordon and obviously Gary Harris will be staring Cho in the face at 9.

Julius Randle could fall since so many players in his build failed or were underwhelming in the NBA in recent memory, Derrick WIlliams, Thomas Robinson, Anthony Bennett.. etc When will the next Larry Johnson finally come???

We are going to have a hell of a lot of draft related threads that are kind of all related to each other over the next two months, aren't we?

Are we assuming the top 8 is Wiggins, Parker, Embiid, Exum, Randle, Smart, Vonleh, and Gordon?

Gordon seems most likely to fall out, and I think McDermott replaces him. Saric is also possible.

Nurkic doesn't get much discussion here, but he's a dark horse.

it will be interesting to see if a) any premiere prospects refuse to work out for Charlotte now that they're the supercool Hornets and not the bumbling Bobcats anymore, and b) if Charlotte will draft someone who didn't work out for them, which they historically have not done.

Gordon or Randle are the most likely to fall, I'd lean towards Randle. McDermott or Saric are the most likely to get picked over them.

I really am very wary of Gordon. An undersized 4 who has a very limited offensive game...no thank you. Not enamored with Randle if he falls either (which I doubt).

If we stay at 9, we will get an incomplete or flawed player regardless. I prefer signing Lance and picking whomever helps us here, or do the suggested trade down w/Orlando to get Afflalo, 12, and pick there.

This blog has Julius Randle dropping.

9. Charlotte Hornets - Nik Stauskas, G, Michigan

With various pending free agents at the guard positions, Nik Stauskas fills a void. It'll be difficult for them to pass on Doug McDermott and Julius Randle, but they like what they have in Cody Zeller and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Nik Stauskas is just a better fit and could soon be an upgrade over Gerald Henderson.

If Randle falls to 9 we should turn in the card as fast as Gettleman does.

If Randle fall to 9 then it's BYE BYE ZELLER! We would have to try to trade Zeller with #24 to move up and draft the best SG prospect.

Imagine if we left the draft with Randle and Young

Randle is going to struggle mightily in my opinion.

He's not going to struggle like Zeller did. Randle is indeed going to struggle and won't be a breakaway star off the bat but he'll average 13 and 8 in about 27 minutes on middling efficiency and probably a lot of turnovers. But once he get it together he will be okay and definitely a legit starter in the league while Zeller might be a career backup energy guy.

That would be a epic draft day. It would be better than the tanking years.

Lol I doubt he will average 13 and 8 in 27 minutes his rookie year. So we will disagree on that big time.

I would hate it. Taking two bad PF in a row seems like a waste to me.

If Randle is playing 27 minutes for us. Al got hurt and we are looking to get a top pick in the lottery again.

How? Randle and Al play two different positions and Randle is 10x better than Zeller and likely better than McBob too.

Randle is definitely not better than McRoberts, and I highly doubt he will be better than an improving Zeller in his sophomore year. Randle had a disappointing freshmen year in my opinion.

Randle is awful and the only way I see him playing that much is if we are out of the playoff picture. Randle can't compete against players his size or speed so I think the only way he is in is if we are forcing him in like we did Zeller early this year.
