Will Charlotte ever draft a hometown Star?

I was just thinking about all of the great NBA players that have come through the NBA that were raised in North Carolina. And I came to the realization that none of them (to my recollection) have played for the Hornets.

To add insult to injury Andrew Wiggins and Dante Exum's Dads both grew up in North Carolina. I think it's about damn time we get our due.

It's such a shame we didn't end up with Curry. That would have ignited the fan excitement, connected back to his father playing for the Hornets, and helped us compete all at the same time.

Well he technically just went to UNC, he wasn't raised there. He was raised in Latta, SC. But I guess it looks like raised and going to a NC school is the same.

It won't be for another 3 years, but a kid that lives an hour from Charlotte(in SC) and more than likely will be going to UNC will be a hot commodity then, Seventh Woods. We might need a PG at that time as well.

Latta, SC is right on the border of South Carolina to North Carolina. Certainly if Ramon Sessions could be considered a local guy being from Myrtle Beach, Felton can being from Latta. I've lived in South Carolina, and residents there usually adapt to North Carolina teams as their own as to say 'the Carolinas are the Carolinas', whether North or South

I live in South Carolina, now about as close to Charlotte as you can get. So yeah, most of South Carolina adapts to the Panthers and the Hornets, maybe not so much towards the GA border though. Now when it comes to colleges well, we all just hope they evaporate(except those guys that pull for an SEC football team, the Heat, the Yankees, and the Cowboys, and either UNC or Duke, mostly UNC).

Here are some YouTube videos of him. One also includes another local product(Fayetteville, NC) that comes out in the same high school class as Woods, Dennis Smith Jr. I don't know much about Smith. Both are extremely gifted, athletic combo guards. Seventh Woods highlight tapes as a freshman are unreal. Woods had top play on Sportscenter awhile back as well. Woods needs to work on his passing, but most importantly his height. He plays more like a 2, but is the size of a 1.

In the 2016 high school class, there are 4 NC/SC kids in the top 20 of the class:
Harry Giles
Dennis Smith Jr.
Edrice Adebayo
Seventh Woods

Hopefully in the near future we will have plenty of local products to select because these next couple of classes only have 2 or 2 combined from the area.
