Like it or not, with Zeller the only current PF on the roster, Randle is a big possibility given Cho's BPA approach and his skills.

Randle falls to 9 - draft him

Resign McBob 2 years 8 million

Sign Stephenson 3 years 33 million

Trade Henderson, Haywood and Zeller to Philly for Thad Young

Kemba/FA or 24
Stephenson/Neal/FA or 24
MKG/Young
McBob/Randle/Young
Jefferson/Biyombo

Randle is not Randolph, but in the Hornets' offense Randle would serve the same basic function on the low block opposite Big Al that Randolph would if signed. I can think of no better mentor than Big Al to develop Randle's game.

Passing on Randle at #9 would be a mistake in my opinion.

Exactly. We can't keep playing Jefferson 36 minutes a night during the regular season and expect to go deep in the playoffs. Randle would get a healthy 20 minutes rookie year, would be perfect next to Biyombo and a go to scorer for the 2nd unit, and would be groomed to take over starting PF once Jefferson is done in 3-4 years.

I would be very happy if Randle slips to #9. No way we pass on him if he is there to be taken.

In my opinion it would be a mistake to even consider him in the top 10.

Randle all day. Would happily trade Zeller for a chance to draft him.

I'm warming on Randle to the point that I THINK I'd happily snag him if he's there at 9 over Stauskas. That's not wanting to give up assets to get him though.

My thought is why take Randle when you can get a player that I think will be better at 24 in Stokes. If you gamble on a smallish bully PF do it late not early.

I really don't think Randle is much of a gamble. He has great footwork and advanced post moves at 19 years old. He is 6'9" with decent wingspan, not undersized at all. He has a NBA body already again at 19 years old. He actually exerts himself on defense. Plus I'm sure he can develop ZBo's midrange jumper in a few years, or who knows, he may already have it ala Sean May and just didn't use it in college.

Not to mention he's an excellent rebounder, and you can never have enough good positioning on rebounding.

I think there's a real chance he falls if Embiid falls to 6.

No he shot in college and was not good at it at all. He would have to learn it. He has less reach than Zeller who a lot of people thought was limited in that category, me included. Not the athlete Zeller is either. I just watched Randle enough that I saw huge bust potential in a guy who can bully small guys but had fits around guys his level.

if he is on the board...i want him. bottom line....if there is anyone that can benefit from working with big Al its Randle

Randle and Zeller would do just fine on offense together the problem is neither one of them are big enough to guard centers

I would be so stoked if we made it out of the draft with Randle and LaVine. Randle falls to 9 and we trade up into the mid teens... Sign Lance Stephenson and we would have one killer young core

Randle was hard to miss. He might have been on TV as much as Duke was last season. Randle's biggest issue is how to handle the length of an opponent. That will come with NBA tutelage from someone like Big Al and Ewing. Once Randle figures out how to use his chest to create separation and quick feet to put a defender on his hip, he'll be lethal. It's all there. We could see it on TV.

Zeller's reach was average for a seven-footer. Randle's reach is just fine for a power forward. He does get his shot blocked too often, but that can be taught away with proper instruction.

Zeller had a small standing reach for a guy his height and small reach for PF too.

The database for draft express says that the average standing reach for players Randle's height is over 9' while Randle's reach is 8'9.5". I am not a fan of taking a smallish at least length wise PF two years in a row and trying to completely retool their game. Randle doesn't even have the athletic ability of Zeller to help with his length issues. He is tougher but if we are going undersized PF go Stokes late.

Ewing and Jefferson are both a good length for their positions so I doubt the have great tricks for how to perform as an undersized player. He would be able to get more help from a guy like Milsap.
