ESPN has learned that McRoberts will receive Heat's full midlevel for the next four years ($23 million) with a player option after Year 3

congrats to mcroberts for getting paid. nice guy. it will be hard to root against him. suck he jumped for more money, but i guess we can't blame him.

the hornets made him a fair offer.

4/23 is too much for the hornets right now. so it goes. i think he fit in on charlotte's roster so well, but seriously, good for him.

i'm glad this mcroberts news is hitting us fairly early in the free agency period. at least we have time to scramble and adjust our free agent list accordingly.

4 years, 23 mil. WOW!!!

the heat would have been better off using that money on a point guard and a center, but he will certainly help. sucks for mcroberts if lebron leaves though.

My wife won't be happy as she sure did love McRoberts. Oh well, lets go and get some players in here.

I dunno, I was prepared to be ok with $5-6M per year. Curious what folks think about this.

to look at it from a more charitable-to-the-hornets perspective - the hornets just extracted possibly mcroberts' best year in his career for $2.5M after trading hakim warrick for him. and now somebody else is paying a premium for that success. hard to fault the front office for their value evaluation there.

I wouldn't have wanted us to pay him more than Miami did, but losing McRoberts seriously hurts us. We're stuck in a pretty poor position at PF right now and I'm not sure what the next move is. Cho better be ready to do something. If Zeller is our starter then we are in trouble.

Losing McBob sucks. He's one of my favorite players in his time here. Hope he does well. This is pretty disappointing news.

ugh... it's kind of sad to see him go but you know what. at that price it might be for the best.

He was an entertaining player to watch, he certainly helped us in the transition from a bad team to a playoff contender and there isn't anything bad you can say about him as a member of the locker room, as a competitor or as a Charlotte Bobcat.

I'm proud that he transitioned from a bench player in one of the league's worst teams in Orlando to someone who the 4-time NBA finalists targeted this summer by playing for us.

I'm unlikely to root for his new team but I hope he goes out there and is a part of meaningful playoff moments. Show them what you're capable of, McJesus!!!

you certainly can imagine him fitting their game-plan. he can move around quite well for a big, stretch the floor and keep the ball moving.

Pretty sure that it was the length of the contract in Miami that won him over. With Zeller and Vonleh here the Hornets likely offered more per year for fewer years.

McBob will be missed!

This is not good we just lost our second best playmaker and the only guy who stretched the floor. We really need to get Lance now

Good for him cashing in on a quality year for him. He just got paid a lot of dough so I'm happy for him. I wish he would have taken our offer of course. He stretched the floor for us and we ran a lot through him at the high post because he is such a great facilitator. We are going to hurt a lot in the latter of those two now.

Maybe the destination of Miami was too much. The possibility of competing for an immediate championship if these guys return. Or maybe just possibly if he got locked into a deal that long he could have seen his minutes drop some with Vonleh and Zeller coming through over his contract length.

Good riddance...but I hope this doesn't mean that we're more open to overpaying for Stephenson or Hayward

This is just the chance for Zeller and Vonleh to shine. If I were them I would be in the gym today because the opportunity to start and play major minutes is there for the taking. only other move I could see is the hornets offering Bosh the max and hoping he wants to stay on the East coast, should he not resign with Miami.

Lastly, does this mean we have the ability to sign BOTH Hayward and Stephenson?

He's going to have to cut that hair. That length in the Miami heat (no pun intended) will be brutal! Probably need to shave the beard too. Basically I'm suggesting him to follow the path of Edwin McCain circa 2009
