Summer League 2: Hornets vs Kings 6PM EST NBATV

Post#1 » by fatlever » Sun Jul 13, 2014 4:43 pm

hopefully we see massive improvements across the board today, sans mcconnell and davis who were fantastic in game 1.

we can only go up from here. vonleh and hairston probably just played the worst games of their lives. it will be interesting to see how they respond. both need to bring a little more energy on the defensive end and both need to relax a little on the offensive end.

it would be a nice bonus of zeller makes it to the game in time to play.

we also get a good look at stauskus [sigh]

Nothing that happens in this game will make me regret missing out on Stauskus. Vonleh was a top 7 - maybe top 5 - talent, and we all know Summer League proves nothing. I like Stauskas though, hopefully he fares better than most recent Kings draft picks.

I don't care if Vonleh keeps shooting 3's and jumpers. Thats a part of his game he needs to work on, and the SL is basically glorified practice. You'll have the Raptors and Magic fans screaming "Bust! Bust! I told you so! Pathetic franchise!" but who cares.

The difference between Harris and Hairston is night and day though. Makes me wonder why we couldn't move up a few spots to grab him. I'm sorry for doubting you Gary.

I thought Nik was going to die in that first game. He was getting hit hard on some drives.

I could see the potential from PJ/Vonleh in the first game, they just had terrible shooting days, it happens. Vonleh has some nice footwork in the post, and is very fluid. He has nice form on his jumper, hopefully it falls for him today.

When Gary Harris becomes a solid pro, NONE OF YOU ALL can comment on it for ten years. I was only one of a couple on here that thought he would be good. The hatred on here was incredible. This isn't aimed at you amcoolio, but your post just made me think.

With that said, I was a Stauskus hater. I'll own that. I thnk he's going to bust. Maybe tonight will back me up :)

And just one game against weak guards in a summer league isn't exactly proof that Harris is more than a scrub. Remember Zeller lit up summer league last year and laid an egg during the season. Lets at least wait until they play actual NBA players in a summer league game or preseason.

I'll wait. I won't say a word on either one of them until at least halfway through the regular season

Yeah, trying to take up for him on 10 different threads just got rather ridiculous.

I thought Harris would make a solid pro, he would just be a terrible fit for us. Harris was drafted where it made sense, if Charlotte took him at 9 it would be a bad fit and a bad value.

Now lay off the sugar and caffeine for awhile, it's one damn SL game, lol.

There is no way for any of us to be considered "GENIUS" at drafting when most of us have very little footage to go on about selecting players. I myself over the years wanted some GREAT players. I wanted Lillard or Beal MORE THAN LIFE and couldnt fathom the pick of MKG, but I cant consider myself a great drafter because I wasnt there when they tried out and watching them through the season. And it takes years to prove who the best player is. For instance, years ago everyone thought we were BONE HEADS for selecting Adam Morrison, but if you revisit the draft, Roy hurt his team more than Morrison did with his bad contract due to injuries. So it takes a while. This is summer league, and some look good, but they might go on to be role players at best or get injured. Not saying its not good to point it out, just saying it takes a while to make it 100 percent official.

Bonnell said yesterday he was flying in on Sunday, but wasn't sure if he would be there in time.

I saw that, I still think playing in the summer league should take a big back seat to your brother's wedding.

Agreed, but you would think Tyler of all people would know that Cody would be playing in Summer League around this time.

The women set the wedding dates, I doubt Tyler's wife gives a damn about the summer league and I don't blame her.
