EAST LANSING, MI -- A current Charlotte Hornets player was arrested early Thursday morning in Michigan on the charge of domestic assault.

Jeffery Matthew Taylor, 25, was arrested at the East Lansing Marriott at University Place around 1 a.m. Thursday.

Taylor is charged with one count of domestic assault, assault and malicious destruction of property.

His bond was set at $5000.

The forward was out most of last year after hurting his Achilles' tendon.

This is the second local player in the spotlight for domestic violence charges. Panther Greg Hardy is awaiting a jury trial.

We're working to gather more information on this story. Stay with WCNC.com for the latest.

This disappoints me. I wasn't expecting much out of him, but I was hoping to see him surprise me. I wouldn't be shocked to see him get cut now and then go on and have a great season for Houston or someone.

Copying and posting what I wrote in the other thread

His GF at Vandy (I think she transferred?) was hot.

Hard to believe this, though. Jeff is a nice guy. Hung out with him a few times at school...oy...

Hopefully this isn't true and I can keep holding onto my belief that he can become a nice role player in the league. If this is true...gonna be a rough couple of weeks / months.

I'm also curious to see what Silver does.

Damn moron. I don't want to cut him, but id suspend him 15-20 games or so.

What an idiot.

Trade him or cut him, we don't need this BS.

Coming off an injury and hanging out partying at a University is just stupid.

Considering we have 43875937 swingmen, maybe he should concentrate on his profession a bit more?

Definitely agree in the CDR part. CDR is better for this team than any of our current backup wings unless Hendo makes strides with his jumper

Terrible, just **** terrible. He's one of my closest friends and we grew up together playing basketball in Sweden. Heck he was at my home just a couple of weeks ago and chilling out, playing some FIFA.

I've known him since we were kids and I really cannot see him doing something like this. He's not an aggresive person at all, on the contrary, he's one of the warmest and most kind-hearted people I have met in my life. I see myself as a good judge of character, but my boy has been through alot of rough **** latetly, coming off an injury and everything. Even though, i really cannot see him doing something like this - ever.

Therefore, let's just wait for more reports to come in before you guys start bashing him. I think the situation is a bit more complicated than it seems.

I haven't posted alot on this forum, cause I'm mainly a reader. But I really had to post this, please do not judge him just yet. Give him the benefit of doubt, that's all I'm asking.

I wasn't going to be the first to say it, because I've beat it into the ground, but this just amplifies how dumb a move it was not to bring CDR back.

Definitely can't trade him, no value. I say we keep him and let the NBA discipline him.

Thanks for posting this. If it were up to me he'd play until he's had his day in court, but that's not how things seem to be going these days. We'll see how the NBA handles this case after the fallout over the NFL incompetency.

Sure thing man. I felt that I needed to post it, cause I've known him for practically my whole life and it's pretty messed up reading all the bashing on various sites. Just a couple of weeks ago we were at my home discussing how this is the most important year of his life and that he should focus on basketball, and only basketball. And trust me when I say that he was more motivated than ever (which says alot, cause he's one of the most motivated people I have met in my life in general). He's worked harder than most people to get in the position where he is at right now.

Therefore I have a really hard time making senes of all of this, Was just about to go to sleep when I read this and it kinda **** my whole week up.

He really did not need this at this moment, he's been working so hard to come back from the injury and now this ****. As i said, let's just wait for more reports to come in, cause i dont think it's all "black or white", there is more to it.

Have to give him a call tomorrow and check how he's doing, I really cannot see him do anything aggresive, he's just not that kind of a person.

PS: Please excuse the foul language but I'm shocked and sad at the same time.

I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt, but if any of this is actually true, I've wanted the league to crack down on this kind of thing for a while. I'd hate to see it start with our own Jeffery Motherviking Taylor though.

I've got to wonder if the team already knew about this situation when they announced they were signing Maxiell.

I feel for you man, since he's a friend of yours that you don't expect that from.

We've gone from squeaky clean to Jail-Hornets in one off-season. I hear Greg Hardy is available.

I think its ridiculous for teams to completely release players unless they have been in trouble before. I think anywhere from 10 - 20 games max suspension is more than enough. No one even blinked an eye about this kind of stuff until that Rice video came out of him knocking his woman to next month. I think a suspension of that many games, potentially a fourth of the season would send a very big message.

Edit: Kobe was accused of rape and still got to play while attending his court proceedings in Colorado. Funny how the NBA let due process play itself out then with it baby darling in trouble and are more than likely going to lay the jack hammer in this instance.

It would have been nice to hold onto CDR now but you can't tell the future.
