Kemba vs. Calderon

If Kemba can't shoot above 40% in this one we may have ourselves an issue.

it is important that clifford, kemba and jefferson figure out how to incorporate lance into the offense. it is important for lance to relax and just play within the offense when nothing is there.

Our back court is becoming one of the worst in a league in a hurry. There is no cohesiveness between Lance and Kemba, and both cannot shoot worth a damn in an open gym right now.

for what it's worth, the Knicks looked surprisingly good in their game against the Cavs on both sides of the ball. I don't know if that was an outlier since I expect them to be mediocre, but they really showed me something that night.

other than that you can sense that they're still getting used to the offense. a lot of delayed cuts, "oh, now I have to go here" movements and pointing going on.

It won't last. Lance is not a low efficiency offensive player, he just needs to figure out how he fits with the rest of the starting lineup. On the otherhand I have no idea why Kemba is shooting so poorly. He has his bad stretches of games, but this is even worse than usual.

I give Lance sort of a pass (not a full pass because he was pretty awful) since he's dealing with some injuries, playing on a new team, and had to face the best perimeter defender in the game with one of the best defensive centers clogging the paint. But Lance and Kemba are going to have to figure it out soon.

Same here. I actually thought the Knicks played some good defense against the Cavs. I know the Cavs were sloppy and out of sync, but the Knicks weren't bad on defense. Not sure if they'll keep it up, but they could be like the Dallas Cowboys who everyone thought would have the worst defense in the league but have actually been kind of solid so far.

You guys have nothing to worry about with Kemba and Lance. I'm a Knick fan and I know unfortunately for us one out of the two or even both are going to off against us just because they are in MSG. Cheers to a good game tho.

Both Kemba and Lance played 3 games against the Knicks last season and this is what they averaged...

Kemba - 25 pts, 5 rebs, 5.3 asts, 46 FG%.
Lance - 19.3 pts, 7.3 rebs, 3.7 asts, 49 FG%

I know the Knicks are a different team this year, but maybe we'll see bounce back games from Kemba and Lance???

Both Lance and Kemba are excellent penetrators but I rarely see perimeter teammates shadow them for kick outs. I hope Clifford can employ this avenue for scoring and can convince players to shadow them and convince Lance and Kemba they will be shadowed and when this happens they should consider kicking out before dribbling into traffic.

They are different for the worse. Defensively, they found the one starting point guard that would be a downgrade from Raymond Felton.

today's homework

find a combination of equally talented point guards, shooting guards and small forwards that would be worse fit next to al jefferson than kemba, lance, mkg and hendo.

we added jefferson with no real plan for how to build around him. cho tried this summer to add some shooters, but it didnt really work. and other than trading henderson for a shooter or to open up playing time for hairston, there really isnt a logical move we could make to put better pieces together. we arent trading kemba in the next few years. we arent trading lance this season. we arent trading jefferson. mkg is really the only player that has high value that could be traded in order to create a better fit for the roster on offense. however, mkg is just now starting to show what he can do and trading him would be so painful for our defense. so, it seems like this odd collection of player that dont fit together are stuck with either other at least for another season. clifford really needs to get creative to figure out how to make it work.

i wonder if clifford would consider bringing lance off the bench as the 6th man and putting neal in the starting lineup. perhaps that would create a slightly better balance of shooters and playmakers between the starting and bench units. playing hairston over henderson would improve the 2nd unit even further.

maybe even by next year, we can start hairston and leave lance as the 6th man.

starting lineup in 2015?
kemba, hairston, mkg, zeller, jefferson

2nd unit
roberts, henderson, lance, marvin, vonleh

and by 2016, hopefully vonleh is ready to take that starting job from zeller, with zeller as the backup center. and in 2016 we bring in a better backup pg and maybe another wing to compete with hairston and lance - while hendo is gone.

Kemba usually goes off in the garden, im expecting to see him and Lance more confident and aggressive since theyre in their home city, plus they probably have a chip on their shoulder wanting to bounce back from last night and from that game when Melo scored 62 last season, especially MKG.. he's probably gonna foul out going at Melo on the defensive end tonight.

If the hornets don't win tonight feel free to ban my account.

Tyreke, Rubio, Rondo, Evan Turner, Dwyane Wade, Demar Derozan, Tony Allen, Patrick Beverley, Michael Carter-Williams, Corey Brewer, Thabo Sefolosha... do I have to continue?

Lets relax people we have a completely new system with Mcroberts gone most importantly and the addition of Lance. Kemba and Lance will be fine, they were both the only player on their team to show up in last years playoffs. Lets give them a few games to gel before we start writing them off.

Good luck charm - the time our 7-56 Bobcats couldn't miss a shot and humiliated the Knicks at MSG. Boris had such a great game that Walt Frazier actually begun a sentence saying that "Michael Jordan has been amazing tonight..." when talking about him before realizing his mistake. Of course, the next game he scored like 4 points.

the audio is kind of choppy in this one and off sync. might have to re-do this one some day, it was a cool game.
