Hopefully the Ant comes back down the earth and doesn't destroy us. Probably wont have MKG.

The Pelicans play the Grizz tonight hopefully they beat them up some.

We need to find a more innovative offense that involve setting screens from different angles. Our current offense is too predictable, so it's easy to tame for opposing defenses unless we're on fire, and that's why we'll always be a mixed bag of results without consistency on that end of the floor until we make some changes

we are catching a break thanks to the pelicans playing tonight.

agreed about the offense being painfully simple and predictable. its the equivalent of the offenses that most NBA teams with good low post centers ran back in the 80s, except at a much much slower pace. last year i was OK with force feed jefferson because we had a 1st year coach and guys were getting used to playing with jefferson. however, i fully expected to see clifford add a lot of wrinkles to the offense this summer and preseason and that does not appear to be the case. based on our current rotations and offense our only real chance at winning games with offense is for jefferson to catch fire or kemba to catch fire.

Should win this one by 10.

MKG playing would be great, but we played really well with Lance at the 3 last game as well. Im not concerned about the Pelicans at all to be honest. I think we win it easily.

A lot of us fans still have this ordeal wrapped inside our minds that no matter who we play we're screwed.

We have good players as well.

I was saying the same thing. We don't do anything on offense to get a defense scrambling. Teams can just ball watch thru the whole possession because it's pretty apparent that all we're tryna do is feed Big Al in the post and once he get it he'll only kick it out to the 2 closest players to him in plain view. Just too damn predictable.

We need to attack in transition and look for early offensive opportunities to try to get the defense scrambling or out of position. I also think we should be setting a lot of pick and rolls in the first half of the shot clock in the half court to get people moving and try to get the defense moving then look for Al in the second half of the shot clock if nothing develops. Currently, we walk the ball up the floor and throw it in to Jefferson and waist most of the shot clock watching Jefferson post up and then if he is forced to kick it back out Kemba or Lance are left on the perimeter scrambling for a last second prayer out of an iso situation. Often the space Jefferson creates when doubled is mostly negated by the fact that he is a black hole a lot of the time and like you said if he does pass out of a double team its just straight back out to the closest guy to him which basically accomplishes nothing except setting himself up for a repost. Alfense is essentially an offense based mostly on isolation plays. Most often its isolating Jefferson on the block and then isolating Lance or Kemba when the offense stagnates and we run out of time. Like someone said in another thread this is essentially an offensive scheme from the 1980's. It probably doesn't help that Al is clearly not in game shape and Lance looks like he didn't take a single jump shot this offense but still...

(side-note - anyone ever wonder did Biz prevent us from getting The Brow by saving this game? he definitely swung some lotto balls :D)

I hope I make it home in time for the game. 50/50 chance.

Eh we were not going to get the pick no matter what. The NBA owned franchise they were trying to sell always had that locked up. What a solid block though. Both hand straight up so as not to get a foul and good elevation.

I guess, you can pretty much call that Biz's signature move.

I remember that he even did it in his first pre-season game ever against Atlanta. He was as lost as he's ever been, didn't score a point but he already could pull of that defensive play.

That is what kills me. Our screwed up coaching carousel has hurt him and MKG the most. If we had found the right coach with Kemba and Biz coming in I think we could be a much better team right now. Clifford is solid and learning but he still needs work on rotations and flexibility with lineups.

Who the hell knows? Maybe our player development is bad. Maybe Stephen Silas could be better at his job. Or how about the fact that our director of player personnel is Jordan's brother? Perhaps, that's what happens when you draft guys based on their ceiling and athleticism.

I'd argue that we us fans from outside cannot pin-point the one thing that is solely responsible for this.

if anyone's interested, I actually remembered that once upon a time I made a video of that a fore-mentioned pre-season debut

and his first two-handed hands-straight-up block (at the 2:48 mark) actually came against our own Messy Marv Williams.
