I'm not sure how I feel about this matchup. They have a really good pick and roll game but their ballhandlers aren't really good at outside shooting so we'll have more leeway to go under screens so they might not be able to exploit our scheme as much as you'd initially think. Their stretch bigs could give us fits though. Regardless, we probably won't be able to slow the game down against them so maybe we will see more transition opportunities for Kemba, Lance, and MKG. They are a little soft inside too so Al should be able to do some good work. I think this game will be close and dramatic like pretty much all of our games have been (except the LA debacle) but I wouldn't be surprised if they have a hot shooting night and just blow us out.

Brian Roberts vs Isaiah Thomas lol. Our bench could be in trouble.

Agreed. Their backup PG is as good or probably better than our starting PG. Their guards in general are just great all around

Thomas and Green are averaging like 32 points a game off the bench. They've gone HAM in their last 2 games in the fourth quarter too (both at home). Hornets going to need to lock down defensively and guard the pick and roll because this is an ISO-heavy offense.

Al struggled against Miles Plumlee last season. Averaged 9.5 ppg on 33% in the two games we played against Phoenix. But at least Frye isn't there to rain threes on us like he usually does.

Cody's chance to take the starting job? and should mean either Noah or Bis play if Marvin doesn't

PHOENIX -- Charlotte Hornets coach Steve Clifford anticipates starting Cody Zeller at power forward Friday if Marvin Williams can’t play due to tendinitis in his left knee.
Who Zeller’s backup would be is more up in the air. Clifford doubts rookie Noah Vonleh is ready to play, since he missed so much of the preseason recovering from sports hernia surgery.
So Michael Kidd-Gilchrist might be a fill-in power forward.
“We could play smaller. We’ve worked some with Mike at the four, which is something I eventually want to do” occasionally, Clifford said following practice Thursday at U.S. Airways Center.
Williams sat out practice and is listed as doubtul for the Suns game.
Getting Vonleh up to speed has been further hampered by the Hornets' busy game schedule.
“We haven’t been able to practice. He's great, he pays attention, but the poor guy -- it’s like his second week of training camp he’s so far behind,” Clifford said of Vonleh, the ninth overall pick in June.
“He may play a little bit but he’s not close to being ready to play for any number of minutes.”

Kudos to Clifford for giving us answers and at least admitting a shakeup is needed!

Kemba-Neal-Lance-MKG-Cody would be an entertaining as hell small ball lineup.
The Vonleh thing is weird to me. The D-League isn't a viable option and we haven't had much practice time, but the kid needs minutes.

He is a big man that turned 19 three months ago. He averaged like 20 mpg for a terrible team his only year in college. I wouldn't be surprised if it takes two years for him to be ready to be a regular part of our rotation.

82games.com doesn't offer Marvin Williams any favors, easily depicting him as the most net negative player in the Hornets' rotation. I know some will try to come to his defense about how he's shooting efficiently at a solid clip, but when you're doing close to nothing on the floor but shooting open shots, well, that's rather easy to do

Having Zeller tops only magnifies that.

That's pretty interesting, wouldn't have guessed it could be that bad based on how often he runs with the first unit.
