Seems like we play these guys every other day.

I swear we play the Bucks at least six times per season. Not that it's a bad thing, but god damn it seems like we play them a **** ton of times.

Question about MKG,

What is his role on the team and how is his minutes determined? Also who does he usually guard through out the game? Is it the best perimeter player or just the wing guys?

appreciate the insights in advance.

MKG is the resident expert on defense. He's a lanky wing that isn't ever going to blow you away with a midrange, but plays scrappy, grabbing offensive boards and drives to the rim well. As far as the determination of his minutes, it's never a static, set-in-stone decision. The minutes he plays, when he plays and who he guards is all a dynamic, situational decision really based off of who is killing us. Now obviously, he starts the game guarding the other team's 3 but if we need help, he's usually sent to calm things down a bit.

He's not only the best defensive player on the team, he might be a top 5 defensive wing in the entire NBA.
Mike Malone was never given a fair chance in Sacramento, and Ranadive will soon come to regret that, when he's on top of the WC inevitably contending somewhere

Thanks for the clarity!

Lets say he's playing against Melo, LeBron, Wade, Kobe etc. Those guys usually bulk around 35+ mins per game plus they are the focus of their offense. Should fans expect MKG on them for most of the game with extended minutes as well?

Now lets use tonight - You are looking at Gianis, Dudley, or Mayo. You think minutes will be limited in exchange for offense from Henderson, Hairston, Roberts?

Typically, if we're playing a dominant small forward such as the ones you listed, MKG is going to get more minutes than usual, but the amount of minutes again, is a situational thing. If we're having trouble offensively, then we may put someone in the game in lieu of MKG in order to get some points on the board. However, if it's a closer game then he might play longer.

In a perfect world, MKG guards those guys all game, but he tends to get himself into foul trouble quickly and easily, which is self-limiting when it comes to playing time. If MKG has a night where he is excelling on defense and contributing offensively though, our coach will usually leave him in the game, and "feed the hot hand". Every Hornets fan's dream is that he develops his offensive game enough so that we never have to make the trade-off, defense or offense

So no Lance or Neal. With Taylor down in the D league, we've got Hendo, MKG and Hairston to man the SG/SF tonight. In the event of foul trouble we might see Marvin at SF with Maxiell at PF, which would be...fun.

He typically defends the best shooting guard or small forward, though you'll occasionally see him guarding a PG or a PF if they're a handful for Kemba or Cody. Definitely the best defensive player we've got, and probably our second best player behind Kemba when Al is in "Give No F***s" mode on defense.

Brandon Knight put up 42 against us last week, so look for him to attack the rim early and often. This strategy not only gets him more looks, but our suddenly thin lineup could easily get into foul trouble, forcing more minutes from Maxiell. This game scares me.

really wanted to watch all of the Christmas games on a TV so I figured I would order League Pass for the occasion. the Christmas package cost about as much as subscribing for a whole month though so I'm rolling with LP for some time now.
