Hornets Are Not Going To Tank

Wasn't sure where to stick this, but figured pro- vs. anti-tank is a big enough topic to merit its own thread. I know some have said we should scrap the season, tank for a high pick and try again next year. In a recent interview (probably done at the end of December, so well into our rough year), here is what MJ said about this topic:
On what the franchise needs to do next: Ultimately, I want to win a championship. I think the thing that I want most along with that is that we win consistently. That the fans understand the winning culture here, the winning attitude. That needs to change (from losing and inconsistency). That's what I'm working for. Because if you get that attitude, eventually you will win a championship. That culture is something you see in a lot of different teams. San Antonio has obviously won championships, Oklahoma City's (been in the Finals). So you've got small markets that have done that, maintained that winning attitude and their fan bases have been really strong and and supportive of that. That's what I want for this city.

Our FO is not going to be about tanking until we draft a star. I agree with that approach. When you have the pieces to consistently make the playoffs, you do it. That should be our goal.

Thank you for reiterating this to us. I'm in agreement with the thesis myself

Well when you're legitimately bad you don't need to tank

^^^^^Precisely.
You can do it on purpose like the Sixers or you can luck into it by hiring Rich Cho.

Making the playoffs is an odd way of tanking.
You know how you get bored of LP trashing Kemba?

Milwaukee didn't tank last year. I feel that's us in 2014-15.

We are a couple wins away from 9th seed, the Pacers and the playoff bubble.

Trade for
JEFF GREEN
No green font needed. I'd take Jeff Green from them for Marv and a 2nd rounder.

I'd offer 2 2nd rounders and they still wouldn't do it.

I think you'd be surprised how much they might want to rid themselves of Green. They are in stealth tank mode and his time there is over the threshold. The only problem with my proposal is that I'd think they'd want a expiring rather than 2 years of Messy Marv.

Well, the "only" problem with your proposal happens to be the main part of your proposal.

Lol. I've seen worse trades happen. The Cavs just got JR Smith, Shumpert, and a 1st for Waiters. Or better yet OKC just got Waiters for bench dumplings.

The Cavs lengthened their bench. They turned Waiters into 2 players. I believe Shumpert will start for them to give them better perimeter defense with Lebron. The Thunder got Waiters for a late 1st, so good deal for them as well. The Knicks dumped salary and got a late 1st for Shumpert. I think all teams made out.

Nah. They changed it. The first went to CLE for taking on the Knicks bad contract that play almost exactly like Waiters.

Ok so the Knicks sacrificed Shumpert to dump JR. That would be like us sacrificing Hairston to dump Hendo.
