Now, what if these were the contracts (average per year + number of years) associated to each player. How might that impact your thinking?

Jermey Lamb = $12 mil per year - 4 years
Malik Monk = $4.5 mil per - 2 years
Dwayne Bacon = $7 mil per year - 4 years
Terrence Ross = $12 mil per year - 4 years
Rodney Hood = $8 mil per year - 3 years
Wesley Matthews = $5 mil per year -2 years
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope = $12 mil per year - 3 years
Alec Burks = $9 mil per year - $8 mil per year - 2 years

Bacon
Monk
Hood
Lamb
Ross
--straight up cap space--
Matthews
Bucks
KCP

Lamb is ranked 26 on this list out of 233 players. Kemba is 9. The other players on BigSlam's list? The highest is KCP at 92. Ross is 105. Everyone else is in the 200s.

Losing Lamb will hurt.

I like Lamb, but we are paying the price right now for signing MKG, Marv, Batum, and Cody to bigger deals then they are worth. Let’s not make the same mistake with Lamb just so we don’t take a step back. Lamb will probably get roughly 15-20 million which isn’t bad, however I think we can find 80% of his production for 5 million dollars.

We need to stop giving out so many middling contracts, the best teams pay 3 guys big money (all worth it) and then fill in gaps with bargain players and young players. The hornets pay a bunch of average players over 10 million each, you can’t win like that.

From a budget standpoint(not always right) I feel you can find value at both Center and SG for under 10 million in nba. The positions you should ideally spend on our PG and SF.

hurt what? we sucked anyways

you really want to pay to have lamb as our #1 option? because with kemba gone that's what we're getting

Hotrod posted a piece from Lowe suggesting if Kemba leaves we could re-sign Lamb.

That sounds gross to me. Let him walk. We don't need to be paying Lamb $15-$20mil a year.

Give that PT and opportunity to Bacon or Monk.

Let Lamb go unless we can sign him to a cheap deal then trade him.

We are now in total asset maximization mode, no new salary that doesn't add future assets.

Don't do it. I just posted it in the offseason thread but signing lamb is proof that the franchise has learned nothing from previous mistakes. Only Exception would be a very short-term deal that aligned with other expiring contracts and gave lamb a chance to shine as a number one option maybe upping his value for his next contract.

Ultimately you're better off giving monk 35 minutes a game and seeing what you have with him.

I resign Lamb if possible. He's good. Trying to win is important for rebuilding teams.

If nothing else the team can trade Lamb later if need be.

What contract offer would you be ok with?

The higher the $, the shorter the contract. I would need to think about it some more, but something like $15 mil @ 3 years seems OK to me off the top of my head, especially if that last year is an option of some sort. I'm not sure that $15 mil would get Lamb though.

Isn’t Barnes gonna get 20 mil? Would be hard to imagine Lamb gets much less. 17-18 a year is what predict.

I'd offer Lamb 48/4 or 40/3. Only really want him back if it is a value contract.

a 4 year contract to Lamb isn't a value contract though
