I expect Kemba to improve a bit with playmaking now that his scoring/shooting game has been fully developed, but I wouldn't ever expect him to put up more than 6-7 apg.

His assist numbers would go up naturally if anyone else on the team could be relied on to score ; )

He shows glimpses of high end passing and court vision at times. He's improved significantly at passing on the break.

But I agree, the next level of elevation of his game would be to make those glimpses more a regular feature of his game.

He absolutely has the ability.

I agree. Every game you can count count 3-4 assts on missed short jumpers, missed layups or fouls and misses.

I disagree that Kemba will ever improve more than marginally at play making. It hasn't happened yet so the likelihood of him breaking out as a super facilitator is next to nil. You can't blame his teammates either, Batum magically makes players like Zeller look passable on offense b/c he's a true play maker. Spatial analysis and seeing plays ahead is just something some players have and some don't.

I would have said it was practically impossible for him to significantly improve his playmaking at this point in his career, but I also never would have dreamed he could be a 47% C&S three point shooter so I'm not in the business of doubting his potential now.

I certainly wouldn't expect a huge improvement. He doesn't have the physical profile of most elite passers. Some of it is just the angles, body contortion, etc.

But guys like Nash, Harden, and Curry are good examples of people without great physical features who really improved their timing and feel.

I agree with the statement that some guys just have that vision. But repetition, film study, etc will certainly help.

We've never seem kemba paired with any big scorers. He can get wherever he needs to get on the court with his dribble. Heck if you trap him he's a huge threat to split it...

So I'd take the middle road here. I think he can improve as a playmaker but not nearly as much as he did as a shooter. That was quite the transformation

Remember when we drafted that undersized score-first point guard that couldn't shoot?

Kemba hit his 235th 3 of the year tonight, from bballref he's only the tenth player to do that EVER. And 250 is within range, which has only been done by five players.

Yea thats pretty nuts.

He absolutely carried us this year. Pretty crazy how underrated he is around the league.

After such a long history of poor shooting in his college and professional career I was vocal that I didn't think he could improve but after a season and a half of maintaining his shooting it's looking like it's here to stay.

Good on him. I've always liked him, but now he's made a believer out of me.

I'll happily eat crow over that one.

Now we have to make sure we surround him with the right talent so we can cash in on his prime and not let it go to waste.

I always thought his shooting issue was just as much about selection as anything. Coming out of college I expected it to take some time for him to adjust to the NBA 3pt line, but I thought he had the potential to be a competent outside shooter. By his 3rd year in college his shot actually looked good. He just had some issues with consistency, selection, and just not being a natural shooter from the get go. However, I never thought he could get this good at shooting this early in his career. I thought he'd see steady improvement and by the time he was like 30 or so he might be this consistent, but I never expected him to reach this level while he is still in his athletic prime. This raises his ceiling considerably. I saw him as more of a 18/7/4/2 guy at his peak.

I've always figured it was just a matter of time. His trajectory upwards from the start of his career was no less and much higher than that of Kyle Lowry and Mike Conley. I never understood why the Charlotte fanbased knocked Kemba during the early years when he was in my eyes the lone bright spot that looked most like a certainty to be a above average player.

In an alternate universe, this is our starting 5. Well we had a chance at Kemba/Beal/Leonard/Gobert anyway haha
