Assuming Steve Clifford gets fired for whatever reason, who would you guys like to see?

I'm all for Mike Malone getting the kitchen sink. Maybe Gentry too if he could be lured away.

Hes not going to get fired, and I dont want him to get fired. But he was piss poor tonight. Would be detrimental and unfair to Walker to have his 3718th head coach in the NBA thus far. I still have faith in Clifford.

We have a better chance at getting the number one pick the next two years than that Clifford will be fired before next season.

Mike Malone might be the only coach that I know that's available that I'd want. Jerry Sloan is too old but good just too old. Mark Jackson is not the answer. I prolly would even be okay with Mike Brown, yea I said it.

Mike Malone
Mike Brown

We have to stick with him through next season unless we just completely implode or something. All the players seem to like him, plus he's probably in the top half of coaches in the league overall (which is super, super sad to say). He needs an offensive assistance coach to handle that side of the ball, and he needs to learn how to manage his lineups better particularly being willing to play the young guys.

If we did go for a new coach I vote Mike Malone. Please god, no Mike Brown or Mike D'Antoni. Did everyone not see the Lakers these past few years? The crazy side of me says give Rasheed Wallace a try, for some reason I always thought he would make a good coach. He might even lead the league in technicals as a coach which would probably also be a first, plus he's a Carolina guy so MJ would be on board. I take back the reasonable first paragraph, let's dump Clifford for Sheed.

Tony Bennett (Virginia Coach)

Bennett could bring his defensive style to Charlotte where he has Biz, MKG, Zeller, Vonleh, and Kemba as a nice young core.

Can we get Mike Malone as the "associate head coach" instead?

he's not getting fired until he loses the team... but, sure, for **** and giggles, lets discuss.

i do not want:

1) a stubborn defensive coach - we have never hired a offensive minded coach. even dunlap was known as a defensive guy in coaching circles. (i'm not sure what sam vincent's speciality was supposed to be). we have enough defensive talent that we can finish as a top 10 defensive team regardless.

2) an older coach who is stuck in his ways (with ideology from 80s, 90s, 00s). - the game has drastically changed the past few years with teams putting so much emphasis on 3pt shooting, spacing, speed, passing. but there are a lot of retread coaches that have been around and are slow to adapt to change.

3) nobody from the van gundy or larry brown coaching trees (see points #1 and #2)

4) a coach that doesn't understand or embrace analytics - they don't have to be morey/mchale, but I also don't want someone like byron scott who doesn't think 3s are good shots. or coaches that are OK with taking a high % of long 2s.

5) a cheap coach, just because he is cheap - larry brown is the only coach we've ever had that wasn't a bargain bin, dirt cheap option.

6) patrick ewing, silas jr

7) a friend of mike

8) mark jackson - nope, nope, nope, 1000 times nope.

I see mentions for Mike Malone, but he seems to fall too close to #1 for my liking.

talk to shane battier and find out if he wants to be a coach. hire that dude and give him a really good, vet assistant to teach him the ropes. give him room to grow as a coach and hang on to him for a decade.

I really don't care at this point. I'm f*cking irate with clifford. What the **** is he thinking keeping Mo Williams out of the game THAT long? I get giving him a rest, but got damn, he waited until we were losing and all momentum was lost.

My vote goes for literally any coach who always plays man to man defense and never, never, never, EVER plays zone (aka worthless) defense

Hire Malone then offer Al, Lance, Hendo, Zeller or Vonleh, 1st round pick, for Cousins

Fats and I are on the same page. I'm not as hung up on point 1 though. I don't mind a defense mind if they actually VALUE DEFENSE and not bench their best defenders for scrubs every close goddamn game!

Random name cuz I think he's slightly underrated: Vinny Del Negro.
