Its so hard to say, he hasn't played in two years.

Average defense, sub-average offense, sub-average athleticism, excellent intangibles

MKG will always be a "what might have been" like Greg Oden
I don't support domestic violence. Thanks Miles

Offense: 4 - decent in transition, good offensive rebounder in traffic, the rest is below avg to bad

Defense: 7 - can guard 1-4, great instincts, gets bullied down low

Athleticism: 5 - very one-handed, not really explosive

Intangibles: 8 - his best asset

Easy to forget that rookie of the month award right at the start of the year, playing center in the Rising Stars game, and ending up on the All-Rookie 2nd team (have we had anyone make that team since?). I didn't like the pick initially, but he really grew on me through his tenacity and fearless style of play.

Was certainly time to move on, but I really don't get the vitriol. Even without a jumpshot, he was undeniably an impact player who's willingness to literally risk limb for this team likely had an adverse effect on his career trajectory.

So best of luck to him, hopefully Dallas makes some noise in the west playoffs.

Offense: 3; He has like one go to mid range shot that he hits a very high percentage. Everywhere else, he is very below average. Sometimes looks lost on offense like he is just watching the game instead of a part of it.

Defense: 5; With other solid defenders on the court, MKG can hold his own. Asking him to cover multiple people and constantly switch frustrates him and he gets lost. Pretty good rebounder and active on boxing out.

Athleticism: 5; He has the ability to guard 3-5 with his wingspan and body size. Decent ability to fight through traffic.

Intangibles: 5; From all signs, he is a great teammate and unselfish. Whatever role you give him, he doesn't argue against it. Really encouraged the young guys last season when we played him.

Overall: Not worth the contract we gave him, but provides enough value and experience to be worth adding. I don't think you'll be disappointed in about 10 energy minutes a night, but not overly impressed either.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

He just could never recover from the injuries he has had, I also think he is a bit mentally fragile. MKG at times was our best player, he just couldn't overcome his flaws.

As for the scouting report

Offense- 3, he is good at transition offence and rebounding. Thats all
Defense- 7, He used to be a 9 or even 10, but he doesn't play all-out like he used to.
Athlete- 5, he is pretty fast vertically and has quick feet on defense, but he isn't a leaper or that explosive
Intangibles- 7, never causes problems and by all accounts a great teammate. He isn't a leader though, he is pretty passive/quiet.

The back to back shoulder injuries destroyed him physically and the family issue seemed to do the same mentally. Not sure if he can get that turned around elsewhere. Good luck to him though, he was never a bad guy.

You either never saw Clyde Drexler play or you're a poor judge of talent (which would be consistent with this board overrating a player seen as having Tony Allen-level upside).
Kevin Johnson isn't "Michael Jordan" famous ... he's "Mitch Richmond" famous

You must be having a bad night. You'll be okay.

He looked like a Scottie Pippen.

Don’t be a knob.

His first preseason game, he absolutely dominated, finishing with a pull up 3. It got a lot of people excited, but it never worked out

To this day I think that, had he been in a different situation - different coach, coming off the bench his rookie season instead of starting right away, & without the pressure of being the #2 pick on a bad team ... that this version of MKG might have been a thing. Mentally he wasn't ready to be that guy right away, but this game really showed what he could have been.

His thin frame really helped his quickness, which allowed him to guard PGs ... but more weight and strength probably would have helped him avoid injury better. My eye test was that he would have some great defensive play that would piss off someone and they would retaliate by knocking him down on the next play or two. Being thin he would end up injured.

The shoulder thing destroyed him. He was never the same after that last one. He should never have tried to come back as quickly as he did.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Who is yours? Could be basketball, you’re team or a player from another team or another sport.

Mine is down to MKG or Jay Cutler
Big Board
1. Vontae Mack no matter what!!
