My guess is $8M a year and I hope we get him for that or less.

Would be an interesting conversation to bring in some outside opinions on, but I don't trust the GB. Maybe the trade board.

He makes 3.8 now. considering that, the solid group of centers in this years FA, his age and defense and the cap going up and an overpay because he is restricted im saying 8.5, i voted 8

looking at center deals from last year

Chris Kamen: 2 years 9.8 million total
Gortat got 5 years 60 million
Frye got 3 years 23 million
Birdman got 2 years 10.4 million

3 years 25.5 million

I was thinking somewhere between 5-7m so I picked 6.

4/24m is a good deal for Biz imo, he'll be 26 by the time that deal ends and will have time for one last big pay day.

I think we may be surprised by the interest Biyombo will get.

There is a joke in the NBA that a project delivers for his NEXT team.

I hope there is no next team and just the same team.

Fixed

For reference:

$5 million: Kaman, Pachulia, Hawes
$6 million: Robin Lopez, Jason Thompson, Chuck Hayes
$7 million: Pau, Amir Johnson, Bass
$8 million: Diaw, Asik, Gibson
$9 million: Jordan Hill, Millsap, Splitter
$10 million: Duncan, Gortat, Varejao

 Fair call!

Biz would fit in that 6m bracket nicely.

3 yrs/20 mil seems appropriate for a player of his caliber.

This was probably on here already, but just in case:

Could you get Biyombo at $4 million? Most people think so, but no one is sure. The Hornets have to tender Biyombo a one-year, $5.2 million qualifying offer to retain matching rights, and executives are nearly unanimous that Biyombo won’t get that kind of money on the open market.

Was surprised about the bit about not getting the QO, do people here think that or no?

Lowe has gone out of the way to **** on Biyombo as of late. No idea why, but if it helps us drive down his value and we can keep him on a cheap long-term deal, awesome! Bismack has done a lot more in the NBA than Asik did before Asik got his deal in Houston and Asik got 3/25. Biz is a big dude who can defend and rebound with the best of them. He's getting more than $5M a year, especially with the cap jump. Asik isn't much better offensively either.

I'd say somewhere around 6-7mil. And I'd be fine with that, but not very much more.

Let's keep things in perspective. Under a regime with a cap around $65M, 8% of the cap is $5.2M, which a lot of folks seem to think is a good current market value for Biz. Under a regime with a cap around $90M, 8% of the cap is $7.2M.

Given the value attached to defensive centers and the tons of cap space that will be available, I don't think Biz is getting less than $7-8M.

I voted $7m. I could definitely see us, or someone else offering 2yr/$14 or 3yr/$21. It will be interesting to see how in tune with front offices Zach Lowe really is when it comes to his prognostication about Biz's value on the open market. If he really only garners offers at $4m a year I'd throw 4yr/$16 his way in a heartbeat if he and his agent would accept. I think $7-8m is fair value. I could be talked into $9m if it's two years or less on the deal and we actually commit to giving him a realistic shot at big minutes even when Al is healthy.

Just started a poll on the trade board a little while ago:

So far we've got 12 votes:

5 votes saying $4M or less
2 votes saying $6M
1 vote for 7M
2 votes for 8M (I am one of them)
1 vote for 9M
1 vote for 10M

Not sure what to make of that...
