Hornets Season in Review, Part 1 (Breakdown of Each Player)

Post#1 » by LamarMatic7 » Fri Apr 17, 2015 1:56 pm

I've written part one of an in-depth breakdown of our season.
http://lamarmatic.com/2015/04/17/charlo ... ew-part-1/

Breakdowns of MKG, Cody, Mo Williams, Gary Neal, Big Al, Jeff Taylor, Hendo and Hairston are those that are already up. All kinds of relevant stats and video examples accompany the column on each player.

I hope that you guys take a look at it and will enjoy it. Some of you I can't thank enough for the push you've given me over the years. With this being possibly the hardest I've worked on a project ever, I do hope that this does take off.

Cheers!

I've already read 3 of them:

PJ and Jeff Taylor are guys I have wanted to succeed, and their lack of success has confounded me at times, so it was fun to read your analysis that clarified to me what these guys lack!

Then I read about Al, also spot on.

Great work as usual, and an impressive amount of work. Can't wait to read the rest!

Thanks to both of you! Clicks have come in both from Twitter and an Aussie basketball board (thanks Sachmo).

I actually second-questioned myself about the Al article after I finished it. But like I said at the end - it's not like there's a need to write hundreds of words on his post game.

Thanks. It's good to receive clarifying comments like that. I might have been a little softer on him if I had to do it again. Good that I didn't do so.

Not sure how far I should go ahead with massively tinkering with the self-promotion rules on reddit, but what the hell... If anyone feels like it, you can help me out and up-vote this:

http://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/32 ... yer_video/

It won't probably stand up to the test of other playoff-relevant material at reddit anyway.

Thanks either way!

If only Hairston can hit 40% on 3's....then he'd be starting. But alas.

Has Bonnell done this in years prior?

He's put up player-by-player analysis himself yesterday.

His player breakdowns suck ass. Basically points out common sense stuff. Im still waiting on an article getting on Clifford and Cho, but I guess Fowler, and probably eventually Sorenson will cover that for him. What a pussy.

I wouldn't doubt it one bit if he did. Although Lamar went into such detail it made Bonnell look like a complete fool. Kind of laughable at this point.

Lamar, have you ever thought about being a writer for Hornetsplanet.com or whatever? Ben Swanson did it, and now hes in Utah I believe with a pretty dang career. Your stuff is literally amazing.

Couldn't vote for you for MVP of the boards though. Gotta switch things up a little my man! Ill continue to retweet and mention your work to other writers though. Very, very impressive.

I read two or Bonnells breakdowns and quit. Awful stuff. He writes as if his audience is my mom, someone who still religiously reads the paper, but also can't name 2 NBA players.

A paragraph and a half of each player is pathetic. He must think his audience is half (Please Use More Appropriate Word).

No, I wouldn't say that. Not that I read all of them, but every one of them looks suitable for a sub-section on each player's wikipedia page. Just general stats and info.

I don't know if this makes any sense, but my plan is to write until the Finals end and then e-mail everyone like crazy during the break between seasons. I think editors might have more time then to genuinely look at possible writer additions. Plus I will be able to show how I have a full season of somewhat regular material under my belt.

No problem. As I said I believe that I'm not on here as often as I used to be and don't deserve it as much.
