What happened to Jeff Taylor?

What's the status of Jeff Taylor? I loved that guy coming out of the draft and was crushed when the W's took his college teammate (Ezeli) over him. Ironically the way I wanted that draft to go for the W's was us take Drummond at 7 and Taylor at 30...we could have done exactly that, which made it all the more painful when Drummond broke out.
Anyway I probaby shouldn't be creating a whole new thread but since I couldn't find where to post, I thought I might as well go with it. Sorry in advance to the mods and if you wanna to move it that's totally cool.

I don't even think any of us really know how to answer that... he's been fantastic in summer league and fantastic in international play, his skills translate well to the NBA on paper, and I thought by now he'd at least be around a sixth-man type of player. Before this season, his talent just hadn't translated to the regular season at all. Then he was arrested for that domestic abuse stuff in the offseason, got suspended from all team stuff for several months, didn't come back until the middle of the season, then Cliff didn't really know how to use him. He saw some okay minutes at the end of the season, but that's about it.
He has a team option this offseason. I have no idea if Charlotte is going to pick it up or not.

Here's the review I wrote on his season. It touches on his overall career arch and breaks his down his weaknesses and strengths.
Plenty of stuff on how he isn't succeeding on offense.

Well after reading the thread and lamarmatic's article (nice job btw) I kind of get the idea. Really a shame that he couldn't pull it together. I had never realized how slow that release was when I watched him in college. It's no wonder he fell to the second round considering how that jumper projected at the NBA level. I'm kind of shocked that Charlotte didn't break it down as soon he got their and just start from scratch. There's just no way you can get away with that.
Still if you guys deny his option (which I probably would given that Charlotte has a enough players who need to work on their jumpers) I wouldn't be shocked if a team who needs some D takes a flier on him.

If Taylor ever figures out that 3pter, he'll make some team a fine 3-D player. Even though the stats don't like his defense, the eye test shows he really can defend and he has good size for a wing.

Eh, Ill take this season as a waste due to the insane 25 game ban or whatever it was after the Ray Lewis incident. NBA making a stand against a bench player. I bet if it was Tony Parker that wouldn't have happened.
I hope we keep him and see what he does next season. Wouldn't hurt, be cheap as could be.

Keep him? Lol. No sir, no thank you. We need to take waste management serious with our roster moving forward.

Id keep him on 900k. Or whatever it will be. If he doesn't stay I don't care, but I'd give him another chance.

I like the idea of keeping a spot open so we can cycle through D league guys and dig for a diamond in the rough. I think we start next season with MKG, Lance, Hairston, a newly drafted SG / SF, and Daniels. I think the choice comes down to Daniels vs. Taylor, and I'm going with Daniels based on team need.
I still am somewhat hoping we see Marv get some SF duties next season, since that's about the only way Vonleh is going to get PT absent injury.

Not worth the qualifying offer. Has one good game for every 5 stinkers but the good game isn't nearly good enough to warrant keeping him on contract. He still can't shoot consistently and is amazingly unproductive defensively despite the appearance of being a good defender.
He wasn't that good in his rookie year, and them when you combine it with his Achilles tear and his 23-game domestic violence suspension, he has just about nothing going for him except the dude has great hops and can pull off 360 dunks.
oh and he'll be 26 in May. He's going to be overseas next year or in the D-League. He slays his competition if they're significantly worse than him. He used to make the Euroleague and/or the Summer league his bitch. Unfortunately, in the NBA, worse players are hard to come across. I thought he was going to be a solid pro but he's been aassive disappointment.

Let's keep the guy who can't do anything on the court and trade the young guy that can do something on the court that we have complete control of for 3 years and like $4M total.
