The Clippers would send forwards Spencer Hawes and Matt Barnes to the Hornets, sources said. Talks have been ongoing for several days, but the proposed deal is yet to be considered imminent.

I don't like it. Hawes is on a trash deal, and it doesn't make our team better. Just cut Lance if we're this desperate to be rid of him.

it's just so grimy of a reevaluation of value. from giving him 2/18 with a team option for a 3rd year to trading him for a longer contract and a ring chaser in like 10 months.

the more I think about it, and it sounds awful I know but so does the proposed trade, it seems to me that it would behoove the Hornets to wait til draft day and see if they can't partner their 1st round pick with Lance for something that could potentially impact the starting unit and change this team up for real. nooo clue what that would be, though.

Would open meaningful minutes up for Hairston and potentially Booker. So that's a positive. Well, it might be.

I think that the trade is fine.

Things to keep in mind
1. Both Hawes and Barnes have range. Cliff will find PT for guys with range.
2. Barnes would be the first decent backup SF that the Hornets have had since drafting MKG.
3. Lance isn't going to be a star here. He just doesn't fit well with either Kemba or Cliff.
4. Cap is going up. Hawes deal will have an impact, but not much more than cutting Lance and stretching his deal would have.

Hawes contract has length, but the money isn't overwhelmingly bad.

This would probably mean the end of the Biyombo Era, or whatever it was.

I think of it as the end of Maxiell error.

I don't like this deal. Lance is practically a expiring and after a summer of work he might live up to the expectations we had when making the blockbuster signing.

I understand the hope ... but it's wishful thinking.

Lance will probably look good wherever he goes though.

Can't wait to see Cliff not give Zeller and Vonleh as much minutes next year because we now have Spencer **** Hawes!

I don't see much possibility that Matt Barnes will have a solid season in a Hornets uniform segwaying into retirement. That's the reason why I'd rather just give Lance another shot whether it's wishful thinking or dreadful hope. And I'm not much interested in Hawes.

From what I'm told by multiple sources, this is now Doc Rivers' call. @hornets ready to move forward on this trade.

I think that the Clips traded a pick with the Dudley deal last year. I don't think that they have a near term pick to trade.

Spencer Hawes isn't McRoberts and it would be an error to try to replicate what McBob brought by acquiring him.

our interior defense will be horrific if Hawes replaces Biz as the backup C
