What to do with this roster now...

Mainly I'm looking at the PF position. We're 3 deep. I'm thinking we tried to move Zeller before the Blazers poached Vonleh, then we drafted a 22 year old who averaged ~20 ppg to hopefully be the stretch 4 Zeller tricked Cho into thinking he was in his draft audition workout. Not only did we try to move Cody before covering up his failure (with the Kaminsky selection) to become a stretch 4, we hedged the bet by bringing in Hawes. Hawes could see time at PF as Frank Kaminsky develops into hopefully a starter.

The team can keep trying to move Cody or look for a taker for Marvin's expiring.

With Kaminsky, Hawes, Marvin and Cody I see a logjam/surplus. Plus consider MKG and/or Batum can see minutes at PF in a small ball lineup. That's 6 potential players who can see minutes at PF.

So will they move Cody or Marvin? Or do they move Hawes because he is redundant with Kaminsky?

Then there is backup PG. Will Mo Williams leave for the Cavs? Without Love they should have some cap space. Are we stuck with Brian Roberts and the imminent implosion of the second unit? What do we do about backup PG. It would have been nice to get McCollum with Batum.

Will Biz be retained and how many minutes will he get behind Al, Hawes, and Cody/Kaminsky (in small ball lineups).

Kemba/?
Lamb/Daniels
Batum/PJ
MKG/Marvin
Al/Hawes/Cody/Kaminsky

It looks like a pu pu platter to me still. Always has.

What do we do from here?

New coach, new GM, get to work on turning this roster over by getting what we can by trading some of this mess. Draft better, coach better, and stop being a laughing stock in the league

I can see that, but there will be an interim and I'm just trying to flesh out the details before we get to a scenario resembling yours.

I have no idea what is going to happen with this roster but I feel like the mediocrity treadmill is inevitable.

I'd like to see Zeller/Marv moved for a PG that can run the 2nd unit. I think Mo bolts for Cleveland. Really surprised we didn't select Hanlan or Young in the 2nd.

Gotta think that a vet is the direction they're going in and will maybe package a player or two + draft picks.

Not sure how much $$ we have in FA, but there are options like Aaron Brooks, Norris Cole, etc. we cannot go into next year with Roberts as Kembas backup.

Marvin, Kaminsky, and our 2016 1st to the Knicks for Calderon and Lamar's cousin.

It's unfathomable. It just can't happen.

Did you catch Phil's interview on ESPN? He looked rattled. He really looked like someone punched him in the gut. Mudiay was there. What was he hoping for? Philly to take Mudiay so Okafor would fall?

I'm hoping there was some truth to the pick swap rumors with the Knicks, it's all I've got at the moment.

At this stage in my desperation I'd take on Calderon's contract for Marvin's expiring just to push Roberts out of the picture. Roberts is a liability to Kemba rather than an insurance policy.

If SAC gets Lawson, I wonder if Collison would be made available. They have other players who fit our roster like Jason Thompson and Nik Stauskas. But I would be content with Collison.

Did folks like playing Marvin at PF and having to see Maxiell for major minutes down the stretch of last season? I don't understand what is so confusing or frustrating about the changes to our big rotation.

We are wasting our time going "all in" on this season if Brian Roberts is going to get more than 3 minutes a game.

100% agree with this. We have to turn some of that PF surplus into a backup PG.

Collison
Jack

other?

So we're just going to act like Marvin is a natural PF now, after having to hear all last season about how he was being played out of position. Ok.

Yeah if they get Lawson they free up Collison for trade. They also have Thompson as a surplus piece with WCS. They have Stauskas as a spare part with McLemore.

I will throw in another first if they take Clifford off our hands too.

Williams for Collison works, but I think we'd have to add an asset to make them deal.

That certainly cleans up the roster a bit:

Kemba/Collison/Roberts
Batum/Lamb/Daniels
MKG/PJ
Cody/Kaminsky
Al/Hawes/Biz

It cleans it up a lot. It makes a hell of a lot more sense than using the MLE to bring in a point, especially if we're planning on resigning Biz. I don't like Calderon as much because his athleticism has left him, but he will be easier to get. The only thing I'd send to the Kings is the Nets 2nd we just traded for last night. For Calderon I think we could just do a straight swap of Marvin and him without having to add anything, the Knicks would actually need to add something to compensate us for the extra year of salary. Maybe that Hernangomez guy they drafted last night?

All that said I expect us to sign the old as dirt Mo WIlliams to a 3 year deal and let Biyombo walk.
