Post#1 » by nickforthreee » Wed Jul 22, 2015 3:11 am

I'm sure everyone will have some different opinions so I'm interested to see them.

mine:

G: Kemba / Lin / Roberts
G: Batum / Lamb / Daniels / Harrison
F: MKG / Marvin / PJ
F: Zeller / Hansbrough
C: Al / Frank / Hawes

We're gonna have a lot of different starting lineups this year. Watch.

Listing each player only at one position

PG: Kemba / Lin / Roberts / Harrison
SG: Batum / Lamb / Daniels
SF: MKG / Hairston
PF: Zeller / Kaminsky / Marvin / Hansbrough
C: Jefferson / Hawes

Lin gets plenty of minutes at SG
Batum gets plenty of minutes at SF
MKG gets some minutes at PF
Zeller/Frank gets some minutes at C

I agree that it's likely to start out mostly that way, but IMHO before the year is out 1 of MKG, Zeller, or Al is going to be benched in favor of another shooter.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Walker
Batum
MKG
Zeller/Tyler
Jefferson/Hawes

Could list the guards, but it's obvious. At least to start out the year I honestly don't think Frank gets many minutes. Tyler is better than him right now.

Hated Tyler at UNC, but he's mean, tough, tenacious, hell of an offensive rebounder and I think it will take Frank a while to get use to the speed of the game at this level.

I love the signing.

9 man rotation to start the year

Kemba / Lin
Batum / Lamb
MKG
Zeller / Marvin
Al / Hawes

6 on the bench / inactive

Roberts
Daniels / Harrison
PJ
Kaminsky
Hansbrough

By Jan Kaminsky takes Marvin's slot and Al gets injured resulting in Hawes starting and Hansbrough playing some minutes at center.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I doubt Marvin plays much 4 this year. I think it's just as likely MKG plays 4

We have one hell of a college all star team. That's for damn sure.

I do wonder if we view Harrison as a developmental PG. Have my doubts but he may have been brought in to be a cheaper option at PG3.

I'd bet a lot of money the starting unit will not be Kemba, Batum, MKG, Zeller, Al. Need balanced shooting on both units

We finished the season with that lineup but with Hendo instead of Batum, barring injuries I'm near 100% certain that's our opening-day lineup.

Maybe. But a roster like this someone has to embrace coming off the bench. Having Kemba as 6th would be a tricky pr issue, Al is the only true center, and Batum is only legit shooter. So Cody or MKG. I think that's why Cody was aggressively shopped and Cho was trying to move he *and* Vonleh.

Coming off the bench they can still play the same minutes. Hornets just need to avoid playing the first 8 minutes with bad offense.

I kind of feel the same. Im really hoping that we turn some of the depth into a trade when it becomes available. I know having this depth is great but in all honesty IF kemba, Batum, MKG and AL are to stay as mainstays in the starting unit, then the team isnt going anywhere.

I do think that Zeller is still and will remain on the block all year unless he shows aggression and adds 3ball range.
All our best shooters are on the second / third unit which is just weird.

This sounds pretty realistic, down to Al inevitably going down. Hopefully Tank takes up Hawes' minutes at C if he can show enough D early on. He can't be worse than Hawes can he?

Kemba/Pargo
Hendo/Gordon/Higgins
MKG/Taylor/Williams
Mullens/McBob/TT
Biz/Haywood/Diop

Seriously though, even with our real depth chart we are one of the least talented teams in the NBA.

This is why I think it would be smart for us to start Hawes. Unlike Al he can pass, he also won't clog the lane, and he can defend just as well as Al can.

Kemba/Lin
MKG/Lamb
Batum/Hairston
Zeller/Kaminsky
Hawes/Jefferson

I think a trade will come eventually to move a combination of Marvin, Roberts, and PJ for another legitimate wing - especially if PJ disappoints during training camp.
