I like this for you guys quite a bit. I think he earns it even if its slightly steep for a year, congrats!

One of the keys to becoming a contender is getting upside guys to bite on team friendly deals. I think that's what happened here.

What a steal! That's ridiculous.

He'll easily be better than Brad Beal in 2 years while being 8M a year cheaper.

Very good deal for MKG and the Hornets. Glad this bit of business is out of the way. Next summer we can focus on improving the team and not sweating over MKG.

If he stays healthy MKG is going to be one of the best bargains in the league in two years. Cho made out like a bandit on this one.

Remind me to stay off the GB for a few days. The morons are already out in full force in the MKG thread.

I am ecstatic about this deal. I can't believe MKG got 3 million less than Tobias Harris

I like how the combination of our guys being underrated and being of high character has worked out so favorably for us in contract negotiations. If this deal goes through we will have our two best players locked up through basically their physical prime years (not quite on MKG) for 25 million a year total. Players of their caliber are going to be signing 20+ mil a year contracts over the next few off-seasons. All the money we are saving makes it more acceptable to overpay Batum. If we could extend Batum for 18-20 million we'll have at least 3 years of Kemba/Batum/MKG making a combined 43-45 million, which will be well under half the cap.

I really like our cap situation. Its too bad the mistakes of the 2014 off-season probably cost us Biz, otherwise we've played it perfectly. I'm still super pissed at our front office for how they've handled virtually everything else, but I'm still excited about the season.

On a GB thread less than a month ago:
Liver_Pooty wrote:Charlotte has to match whatever a team offers him in RFA period. Do we want to give him the max? Hell no. Will a team offer him the max and force us to match? Eh, I doubt it. But with the amount of money teams will have next year who the hell knows.

I think 13 mill a year over 4 years is fair.

Raps fan here. I think this is a great deal. He's young af, and a great piece for the future. I'm sure you guys know this already, but don't pay attention to th GB or any other board's posters. Just like my beloved Raps, you guys have players who are overlooked and underrated, and I don't think most casual fans have seen enough MKG to properly gauge his value.

He's got lots of time to improve on his weaknesses, and sometimes I think fans expect young guys to be perfect. Of course MKG has flaws but he's clearly a very good player and a nice piece at those numbers, even if he ends up as a trade chip down the road (which I doubt would happen). Cudos on this singing.

people who don't watch him every night will never understand his value. He is definitely an enigma in the current landscape of the league. He might be one of the harder players in the league to put a team around and certainly the Hornets did him no favors in previous years with the lack of outside shooting at other positions. MKG needs to have shooters at the others positions in order to give him space to slash while also not wrecking overall team spacing.

That being said, of course he has to improve the shooting and become at least willing to stand at the 3pt line and launch when open, but there is no reason to think he wont get there eventually.

if he doesn't improve at all its a fair deal with the rising cap, with his age, work ethic and track record i'd expect to see improvement as well, making this one of the leagues best deals by 2017

Crazy good deal for you guys, I´d have easily offer him 75m$ per 5 years.
