I talked with Steve Martin on my podcast about both the Hornets future and the past. Thought that I might create a thread for this.

The main topics discussed were the Nicolas Batum trade, MKG's extension and his work ethic, coach Clifford's impact on players showing up for the involuntary work-outs, his definite Hendo memory of Gerald addressing the fans during the last game of the 7-59 season, the Hornets of the past, the 92-93 series against Boston and how League Pass will actually offer radio broadcasts during the next season.

You can get the link to iTunes, download it or hear it on a flash player here:

Nice listen. Hope Steve could talk more stories he had with the team.

BTW, on NBA app $10 you could listen a whole season's radio for all NBA games. Nice way to listen east coast games when sit in traffic.

I'll take the blame for that. I could have moderated the conversation a bit better to hear some more unheard stories.

now that I saw your comment on the jlinportal, I wish you would have said the same things on here and upfront.

hadn't I randomly noticed the site being a referrer, I would have never found out about your criticism of me being "pretty bad" at this or that there is no sense in talking about Hornets history. I'm new at this and I can only appreciate every bit of feedback and criticism.

thanks for the support, man.

it's just that, hey, for all I know there might be times where it sounds bad. I probably should as this is just the start of doing this. I just don't get why the guy had to say it was all okay here, then turn around and slam me on another site.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it. If he's not going to give you constructive criticism and just be a jackass about it, he doesn't matter. Your podcast was great. You asked the right questions, and you did what a lot of people won't do- just let the guy you're interviewing talk for a long period of time, which I like. I really enjoyed it.

Being fake is one of the worst qualities a person can have, and thats what that was.

Replied you on the other site, and I just copy and paste it here in case you did not see my reply.

OMG, I'm so embarrassed to got caught bad mouth behind people. LOL, Sorry about it.

I saw you announced your podcast before, but paid no attention to it as I thought Hornet is a relatively short history team, thus did not anticipated anything I'd be interested in. I only listen to this one simply by the guest you have. If I knew you got nice guests, I will for sure listen to it in the future.

I enjoyed Steve a lot, and I found even him talking about old days of Hornets or Bobcats was fun. Listen to him talking about old days they fly commercial instead of charter flight, player will have an extra seat next to them etc., those are interesting little details I really enjoy, and I just hope he could flow a little bit more, as you just could not anticipate what he will tell next. Those are all things reporters don't really talk or write about.

To be honest, I did found your hosting style a bit annoying, (sorry about the wording) Looks to me like you might have some flow or topics in your mind that you planned out for this podcast, and you are trying hard to stick to your flow, and not really have time or energy to listen into what Steve was talking about, so you often promptly guided him to some topics you planned for the next, that's times I feel if given a bit more time, Steve might go into a bit more details of things, or that topic is interesting and could have given a bit more time. You know what I'm saying? Sometimes it feels like I'm watching TV with somebody who likes to switch channels half a minute faster than you prefer.

In the positive side, I liked your podcast since it is talking about history so it is less about current events, thus has a relaxed feel, and I'm not sure about other guests, but Steve sure is relaxed and just talk about things come to their mind, so it is a bit different from other podcasts like "dunked on" or "Lowe post" etc. Also I like the guest you have, so I did subscribed your podcast, and will try to list to your previous 2 episode too. I did not anticipate this before I listen, but did found it a pleasant surprise. That's why I bring it here to share with my friends.

BTW, maybe I got you wrong since I saw your announcement on Hornets board, so I thought you only focus on history of Hornets team, but if you are talking about general NBA history, that could be much more interesting. I really like those story telling, talk about old days talks.

Finally, thanks for coming, and call me out. haha

BTW, I did post the link to your podcast on that site as a reference, and recommend your podcast to people there for its content.

I could have been more specific for the criticism part instead of very general statement, well, I was rushed and that's not really my emphasis, I was trying to introduce the podcast and the content there.

None the less, lesson learned, and I will be more careful next time to be more specific. Hopefully I explain myself clearly this time Also that's just my preference, not necessary all other people feel the same way.

It's all good as far the criticism goes. You're definitely entitled to your own opinion about my work. Again thanks for posting the podcast over there!

Really great podcast Lamar, I just finished it a few minutes ago. It was very well-moderated, no dead air and I thought you and Steve fell into a comfortable rhythm of conversation relatively quickly. I especially enjoyed your knowledge of the small details, like the Hendo game you talked about being on TNT, or the Boston playoff game being a 2OT contest and it seemed like Steve was equally impressed. The old stories were definitely the highlight for me, can never get enough of those.

to be honest, if it wasn't for me preparing so well for the conversation, I wouldn't have got the tidbit about it being two overtimes.

You really did a great job with this. I seriously wish you were our beat writer. I'm not just saying that because you are kind of "our guy". I think you are best writer out there that primarily does Hornets content. Infinitely better than Bonnell or anyone at the observer. Better than the QueenCityHoops and AtTheHive guys.
