Perfect opportunity to turn the season around. We only really need two wins out of these first six games and the Mavs and their cushy defense are our best chance to hit that benchmark. This game is actually critical.

I greatly respect your decision to use Keldeo instead of Rapidash for the Mavs avatar.

good to know that "Nowitzki has helped Dallas win past 23 games against Charlotte". Let's hope we stop him this time.

That's not really true... we beat them in 2013-14 and in 2012-13, but before that, we rode a 21-game losing streak to the Mavs dating back to the turn of the century

They've got so many new guys and Parsons is still not 100%. If Dirk doesn't score alot, it shouldn't be too hard to beat them.

I wonder if Jeremy Lin knows about the pokemon gamethreads here. He just posted a picture of his hand-drawn pokemon on his blog.

Rick Carlisle said, for the time being, Chandler Parsons is on a 15-minute restriction.

By comparing PER (Player Efficiency Rating) ratings on top 6 Hornets players (Walker PG,19.7 Batum SF, 16.1, Lamb SG, 31.8 AL C, 21.0, Lin PG/SG, 21.6, Williams PF 15.3) with two best players in Mavericks (Dirk PF, 27.8, Williams PG 15.7 - wow, that is players on every position) , I wouldn't be surprised to see Hornets to top Mavericks tonight if the players' usage rates match their PER rating.

Follow them reasonably well. Mildly interesting detail--I got married the night the Stars won their only Stanley Cup.

I remember Irbe. Remember being excited to get him as a backup to Moog and maybe be a guy who challenged him. Didn't really work out that way, but in a way it did, because the next summer we went out and paid big money to bring in The Eagle. But he had a wildly entertaining style in net.

Skrastins was here during the really dark time of Stars hockey when had an owner who was broke so we had no talent and we had fired a pretty good coach in Tippets and were just floundering. He was a decent veteran defenseman, but never a guy I fell in love with.

But this year is great obviously with Benn/Sequin going nuts and lots of interesting kids filtering into the lineup. Still desperately need a #1 D-Man and while Niemi has been okay, we could use an upgrade in net. I think there is a chance we make a big move for the defenseman if one becomes available, but sadly we are stuck in net. Jack Campbell our best goalie prospect just hasn't come along as quickly as hoped. But we are rich in forwards, particularly centers.

LP might need some "alone time" for those 15 minutes

Irbe nearly led the Canes to a cup. Fixed his pads with fishing line like a boss
