I liked Lin's offensive game tonight quite a bit. He came out aggressively, looking to create/score off of dribble-drive isolation, which I've been waiting for him to do, since teams have been trapping him off the Pick N' Roll very aggressively - particularly near the sideline Picks.
It was refreshing tonight to see him adjust to the PnR traps, and instead stick to attacking from the top of the key. This avoided the action of calling for the sideline Pick that gives the defense a chance to set and attack. There was even a play where a sideline PnR was initially called, and then Lin opted to forego the pick once he saw the defense getting ready to trap him. The headiness was a positive - since in previous games he had elected to drive right into the trap, causing him to make panicked passes out of it.
Those expecting the 2nd unit to swing the ball around like the Spurs might be disappointed with everything the 2nd unit did (including Lin's dribble driving, which appears to be the opposite of ball-movement), but the Hornets current bench lineup is just not very good/talented collectively. Just got to call a spade a spade. The 2nd unit has been trying to PnR to death, but the bigs just aren't threats to roll and finish (especially Hawes), and they also aren't threatening as pick and pop options either. As such, I prefer when Lin initiates the offense via the dribble-drive, since it forces the defense to collapse, and isn't as predictable (and easy to guard) as constant perimeter screens.
Other offensive side notes: Lin showed some midrange game as well off the drives, which was appreciated. He was foregoing the midrange J completely when he started the season - and it's still a relatively new facet of his game - so it was a good sign mentally that he had the confidence to look for it. It seemed that he had no confidence in his midrange game previous - so to see him pull it out was cool.
Agreed. It's the Spurs championship winning lineup in there. They are pi$$ed they lost last season so soon in the PO and had a tough loss against the Wiz. Lin played OK, not THAT bad. Pop is no kidding. It's good to learn from this.
Unpredictable is the keyword. PnR with Hawes is predictable AND slow. They would be better off with Cody charging towards the rim. You're right it's better for Lin to use a variety of moves. They've gotta find more ways to get everyone involved rather than solely depend on Lin or Batum, that would make it more unpredictable. Marv/Frank have some potential there. Hawes actually does a lot of unpredictable stuff but unfortunately most of the time it either doesn't work or has very low efficiency. (dribbling behind the back, passing to the opponents, fancy hook shots)

I also blame the coach.
When the hornets came out on the quality with a 7-0 run, Pop called a timed out with just 1 minutes into q3. But when Spurs had that run, Clifford did nothing.

So 4 months to fill up a 100 pg thread (with much of it in the slower off-season, too). How long does it typically take with the traffic on this board?

We've filled up 2.5 threads for Kemba Walker, who we've had since 2011.
Threads are about 33% larger now that pages are 20 posts instead of 15 like they used to be.
I think the Lance Stephenson thread from last year filled up around the time the season started too. [edit] it actually filled up a week after we signed him

Yeah, the Raps and Knicks boards are more heavily trafficked. I remember multiple 100 pg Lin threads on the Knicks board on the single day that Dolan refused to match. It took less than an hour to fill up a 100 pg thread, and it was impossible to hold a coherent conversation, since the thread would be closed and a new one opened immediately. It was like that for that entire day.

Uh-oh. Lin just tweeted a Bible verse. He usually only does that when he's feeling out of sorts and feels a need to rely on his faith for strength. Some of his past Bible tweets have been at the emotional lowpoints of his career. He doesn't randomly tweet Bible verses, but only when he's feeling emotional. It's his coping mechanism.
He's always diplomatic and media savvy in his answers. The only time you ever get a glimpse into any inner turmoil is through his bible tweets, and at his annual Christian testimonials in Taiwan. Those are the only times he lets his guard down.
It's why fans are always alarmed when he tweets a Bible verse, since it often means something might be wrong. The last time he tweeted a Bible verse, someone from his inner circle had to clarify that it was because he was emotionally very happy for the change in scenery to Charlotte, to quell the fan panic.
After this loss, I don't think the emotion behind this tweet is as positive....

http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/25367168/jeremy-lin-enjoying-much-needed-consistency-in-his-new-home-with-hornetsKind of weird timing for this article, since pre-season till 6 games in, Lin's role on this team is nothing close to consistent. He played SG a lot in preseason, to not playing SG much now. However, that said, this could also apply to majority of the players on this team too, as coach is constantly adjusting line up rotations, especially that second line up, and during 1st team and 2nd team transition. Hopefully coach could figure it out soon and let the team to gel.

He tweeted a verse on Oct. 24, must have been a hard practice.
But seriously though, I find it a bit insulting to him that he can't make expressions of his religion without folks trying to use it to analyze his emotional state as relates to the Hornets.
