We haven't had an All-Star since Gerald Wallace, we have been close the past couple seasons but will this finally be the year?

If Batum gets any kind of consistent (which he should, its just november) then he's a shoe-in imo

Batum as of today would be in. Marvin as of today would get consideration as a coaches selection. Kaminksy has a chance for the 3 point contest and USA v World.

Four reasons why we will not have an all-star this year
1) Outside of Lin getting an undeserved push from Asia, we won't get anyone voted in by fans.
2) All-stars generally go to teams in playoff contention. Most years that means that 8 teams have the attention of the voters. With so much parity this year, that could mean 12-13 teams still in the playoff hunt come January, meaning more players in the pool for consideration, decreasing the odds for one of our guys.
3) With so much depth on our team, that means that we won't have anyone putting up huge stats, lessening the odds of one our guys getting the attention needed.
4) Because we are still team that nobody cares about. Until we prove something, there will be no respect.
But... if we are clearly in the top 8 in January and Batum keeps playing out of his mind, there is an outside chance he could sneak in, but very unlikely given the depth of wings and forwards - Lebron, Butler, P George, Melo, Bosh, Love, Millsap, Derozan and everyone's pet favorite, Giannis + Wade might steal a spot by getting voted in.
And for those thinking about Kemba - he is probably behind Wall, Lowry, Jackson, Thomas + Kyrie or Rose might steal a spot be being voted in.
Jefferson for the really long shot (assuming nobody watches defense) still behind Horford, Drummond, maybe Whiteside or Monroe and Lopez if nobody cares about losing + Gasol might steal a spot by getting voted in.

Nope. And I don't think it will be close, unfortunately.

Batum is our only chance, and with Lebron, George, Melo... Not happening.

Unless Melo gets in via fan vote - he could - I doubt the coaches select him. I'd say odds are above 50% 1 of either Batum or Marvin make it.

My early early all-stars
G: Thomas
G: Butler
F: Lebron
F: George
C: Drummond
Reserves
G: Lowry
G: Jackson
F: Melo
F: Bosh
C: Horford
util: Love
util: Whiteside
I expect Wall to start playing better and take a spot away from one of the other point guards. Beal if he gets healthy ASAP and picks up where he left off might also take a spot.
Just missed: Millsap, Giannis, Derozan, Batum, Wade, Wall and Beal

Marvin? Yeah, that's not gonna happen. He's been great for us, but he's not playing at an all-star level. Plus his stats are very modest, so he will go unnoticed. There is literally a 0% chance of Marvin making the all-star game.
I think you underestimate just how little attention our franchise gets among the national media.

Re: Melo
He might be inefficient this year, but he is still averaging 23/7 on a Knicks team that is playing .500 ball for the Knicks in the media capital of the world. He'll make the team unless he gets hurt or unless the Knicks go on a massive losing streak. And thats assuming he doesn't get voted in, which probably has a 50+% chance of happening.

Of course Marvin can make it as a coaches selection. Far different from fan votes. I also expect Charlotte to be well above .500.
Side note I can't remember the last time I watched an NBA all-star game. That and all-NBA selections are less meaningful compared to national team honors.

Given current record, SOS, and future schedule the Hornets are on pace to win 44-47 games. That's decent ammo for a team expected to win 31 and missing it's best player. Someone would have to be considered.

Nobody outside of Charlotte is paying attention to Marvin. The "coaches" vote is most likely done by some assistant in the office who goes with big names. You know how these things work. Players on the 2-3 best teams, players from the big markets and players who have big names or a history of previous all-star appearances almost always get the reserve votes. Players almost always have to have a massive snub before they break into the all-star game the following year. Marvin would have to jump so many huge names on high profile teams to make it. Plus, he isn't even the most deserving Hornet, that honor goes to Batum (and you can bet your house and your entire life savings on the fact that the Hornets will not have two all-stars this year.
Marvin isn't interesting, fun to watch, sexy, young and upcoming, old and established or on an important team (in the eyes of most of the league). He might as well be invisible.
0% chance.

Lol maybe mostly invisible I guess. But boring personality-less Joe Johnson made a bunch of games and Teague last year. I'm predicating my opinion on them being a top 5 eastern team which I think is likely or possible.

Joe Johnson making that many all-star games is as big of a mystery as the pyramids. Better to not even try to understand. Hawks only had those guys make it because they were on pace for 60+ wins and destroying the league while the Cavs got off to that slow start.
Anyway, I'm glad to see you are so optimistic about our season. I've been beaten down by too many years of losing to have that kind of viewpoint.

Marvin Williams isn't making any damn all star team. I'm thrilled by his improvement, but there is no way in hell.

Did the Bucks have an all star last year?
I honestly don't know, and they way overachieved.

Before this year Charlotte picked the absolute worst path for a small market franchise assuming they wanted to be interesting.
Small market
Losing with defense
In the South no less where football dominates and college basketball within that specific region. That's legitimately at the intersection of Eye and Fork. Marvin likely isn't selected an all-star but he has a story to be told. You guys underestimate how well he's played for his position and how coaches value that. People would've laughed 3 years ago at the suggestion of Korver being an all-star.

They didn't deserve to have one. Plus boring and defense.
