Rockets are 1st in the league in threes attempted per game. We are third. Gonna be a lot of three pointers shot tonight.

I predict P.J will set his new career high for points in this game.

I wish the Hornets backcourt will cut more to abuse Harden's defense or lack of it.

I don't hate the Rockets nor Harden, just one certain board. The Realgm Rockets forum has always been classy though
That being said, we need to take down the Rockets. Go Hornets!

I want to start Frank. Marv would have to sit and I know sometimes he sets the tone by hitting early 3s but I think Cody's struggling and Frank's length and defensive prowess would help Cody and the starters get off to a better start. I know it won't happen and hoping the starters come out sharp because we're on the road and it is good to come out sharp.

PJ is going to be needed big time tonight to try to contain Harden, not trusting Lamb's D lately. Would be nice to have Al back tonight just as a bigger body to defend Dwight

My bad, is it Batum who will be guarding Harden? If so, that's not bad his length might give him some fits.

PJ to start. My guess is Batum at times, MW at times, Lin at times.

Will be interesting to see if Batum and Harden have a contest to see who can launch the most terrible threes while trying to draw fouls.

True. Also think we're too predictable. I read a lot of boards and I don't know where I read this but someone at the game said Washington seemed prepared for our offensive sets. And someone else said at the Boston game the same thing. At least to start, Cliff needs to mix things up. But really, defense has to be there too. If it is not, doesn't matter how much we score.
Houston is something of an all of nothing team that can come back on you. Gotta really execute in their building to get the W.

Posted this in the stats thread, but we have the #6 ranked road offense. It's our defense that struggles on the road, not our offense.

Re: GT: Hornets @ Rockets Monday 8PM
it is a tough matchup for the hornets...
the biggest downfall of Houston Rockets this season is their transition defense, however the hornets is dead last on transition offense since they play conservatively on both ends... the Kings, Nuggets had success on them instead being inferior teams because they run, they can explore the Rockets...the Rockets play a frenetic pace, they will turn the ball over, the hornets have to take advantage of those...
The Rockets' offense has come back alive lately, harden is a handful, don't expect PJ can defend Harden, actually nobody can if Harden is on his game....the hornets starters have been lousy in defending PnR, particularly on the ball handlers, Kemba, PJ and Nic have to clean that up....you'd like to put them into a Harden iso, Dwight post-up situation, the more, the better for the Hornets...
the rockets relies on Harden's kick-out corner threes a lot, they could be hot and cold...if the Rockets three points shooting is on, basically the Hornets is a toast, the hornets have to rotate really well on the defensive end but they have not done well (Magics, Wizards games)...
The rockets like to interrupt the passing lane and trap the PnR handlers, they did a great job last season... not as good this season, but they can turn it on at certain nights.... Ariza, harden, Beverley, Brewer are all ball thieves, they gamble a lot though, so the hornets need to take care of the ball, be decisive and quick on decisions.... Beverley is a ball hawk, the bigs have to help Kemba, lin etc., setting screens early, he is below average PnR defender, put him in that situation more... unfortunately the hornets don't have a matchup to explore Harden on defense...
For the hornets to win, they have to execute their own game, take care of the ball, limit Rockets in transition, let Harden and Dwight iso...move the ball early, bigs hitting threes to stretch the floor, guards have to attack the rim although they are going to face two elite rim protectors in Dwight and Capella...

Batum wins that battle as Harden draws most of his fouls closer in, usually straight down the middle near the FT line. Hope our defenders don't get suckered into trying to steal there. If Harden doesn't get the call he can be surprisingly ineffective.
Dwight can't jump much anymore but he still cause trouble with our penetration though Capela will be more of a shot blocking force.
Rockets are good but not nearly as good as last year. Hornets come out energetic and focused on D and they can win this thing.
