our all-time record is 10-11 against the Lakers, 2-6 in our last eight. need to beat them twice while they are still bad. kind of ironic that we sustained a winning record against them in our first Bobcats years and that they have now surpassed us recently.

First, we have a brutal January schedule, partly due to lots of road games and also due to a bunch of tough teams in the early part of the schedule. That month will determine whether the Hornets are pretenders or contenders.

Second, Kobe has miraculous started playing better of late. Still, the Hornets should let him shoot 30 ISO shots.

Third, the Lakers have some athletic dunkers, like Larry Nance Jr, who will embarrass us several times. Still, we should be able to exploit their rookies and young team.

Fourth, I predict that Clifford, having heard of Lin's tribulations under Byron Scott's system, will give Lin 30+ minutes and free reign to wreak havoc.

They just finished (and lost) a game against Memphis. Will be doing the redeye over. It's a tough back to back for them.

On the other hand, Nic and Marv are injured (listed as probable)

But it's a must win. It'd be embarrassing if we lost

Garbage time by the 3rd quarter. The starters and the 3rd string players get most minutes. 2nd string players get about 8 minutes each.

Clifford could care less about what happened with Lin as a Laker. He might still get 30 minutes, but it won't be for that reason.

I think you meant "couldn't care less." ;)

It's just a tongue in cheek hunch. No need to take it literally.

Yes, that's what I meant.

I hope the starters come out strong this game and hope to finish the D-leaguer off by mid of Q3. The bench warmers need some play time. Make it happens

I'm not worried about Kobe.

I don't trust Lin or Kemba dealing with Clarkson, Lou, or Russell.

The Lakers DO suck - but we get the kind of weak on-ball defenders at those positions to allow them to get hot enough to threaten. Their interior D is also terrible but like... I don't know. Maybe Lin gets it going inside, maybe he doesn't. I expect Randle and Hibbert to suplex Cody at some point.

Probably gonna be a closer game than either teams wants. If Batum doesn't go off, I'd be shocked though.

Let Kobe get his 25 shots up and the Hornets blow them out - everyone goes home happy. Who will be able to defend Lin/Kemba on the Lakers? Not one of their guards are any good defensively. I want Lin on Kobe defensively. Make him work as Lin has defended Kobe well in the past. I hope Frank or Hawes gets a good run at centre, pull Hibbert out of the paint for some great spacing.

Russel is a slow bust, lou is a chucker and Clarskson is a avrage player. Also all of them are horrible defenders, it will be Lin and Kemba's easiest game of the season.

Lin and Kemba are both so wildly inconsistent that no game should ever be called "easy" (or hard for that matter  ) for either of them. There's no such thing as a bust 2 months into the season either. All of those guys are capable of scoring more or less - its byron scott's iso or die offense that works deliberately against that entire team.

The team is in a rut right now and the Lakers are a terrible team primed for a fluke good game. We're not good enough on offense or defense to necessarily prevent either going by the last 7 games or so.

Of course we could just steam roll them too. But I decided that if I'm going to a pessimist/realist about the team, then I'd at least describe why in detail instead of buzzwords and crap like motivations and digging deep and all that other crap.

I follow the Lakers and every scrub PG in this league have career games against them. Their guards are so lost and slow in defense, Kemba and Lin are gonna run circles around them. The only way Hornets losing this game is if everything goes wrong for them and everything goes perfect for Lakers. Less than 0.1 chance.

I'd like to see us try to go small against Hibbert with Frank at center.

I don't particularly want to, but then I remind myself that we'll run kemba/lin/lamb/marv/cody regardless and I immediately warm up to the idea...

Yes, I wish the coach could keep this lineup twice for at least 8 minutes in 1st and 2rd halves, but make sure let Lin play PG.

i don't want to say this game will be 100% win, but nowadays kobe has been playing like his old self for the first half of games, then dissapears or sits in the 2nd half. If that pattern continues, we got this game. On the other hand, if he goes off the entire game, then this will be a tough match for the hornets.

Im more worried about the following games, against: 2x clippers, raptors, thunder, golden state, suns...most of these games being on the road. If we can get one or two wins out of these, we might have a fighting chance for 8th place eastern conference lol

So it's Kobe's last game here. Does he get booed or cheered tonight?

I'm hoping it's the later but I never discount the average Charlotte fans ability to hold a grudge for 20 years.
