Hornets vs. Heat Series Thread
Now that we know who our opponent is, time to talk about the series. Interesting facts about MIA (all based on post-ASB stats):
(1) MIA allowed the fewest 3PTA's in the league, just 19.6 per game. However, they also allowed the 9th highest 3PT% over that period.
(2) MIA posted 5th best ORB% in the league. We posted the top DRB%. Controlling the boards is going to be huge.
(3) MIA allowed the fewest number of assists per game by their opponent.
(4) We are basically tied with MIA in pace, right at league average. From that perspective it won't be much of a contrast in styles.

It would be so sweet to send that little ***** Wade fishing! IF Kemba Walker is the best player on the floor then I think we could win the series in six.

I hate Wade. Hope the Hornets can take that team down.

My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I can't believe how perfectly things went for us tonight. I cannot wait for this series. There's no team in the league I'd enjoy sending home more.

Perusing the Heat board they appear so glad to face us. I don't know why I even look but it's like a train wreck that you can't look away from tbh.

Re: Hornets vs. Heat Series Thread
this is what I posted on the GB
A few early thoughts
- The two players from the Heat who have given the Hornets problems this year are Dragic and Whiteside. Dragic has always given Kemba problems on the offensive side. He'll have no problem getting into the paint. The Hornets have really struggled dealing with Whiteside's shot blocking because he negates so much of what Kemba and Lin do on offense.
- Winslow guarding Kemba in key moments will be a very important wrinkle in the game.
- Lee and Lin should do a decent job vs Wade, assuming refs don't give Wade too much.
- Batum is nursing a sprained ankle suffered Monday. He should be ready to go, but could be slowed. Johnson is a good matchup in that regard. Batum can stay with JJ.
- Lin has been incredibly streaky lately (even more than usual). He has the ability to almost win a game singlehandedly when he is on. I predict he'll have at least one HUGE game this series.
- The Heat would be smart to put Al Jefferson in pick and roll coverage any time he is on the floor. Jefferson has been scoring better lately, so he could be a factor in the post.
- McRoberts could be an interesting wild card this series.
- Heat can get away with going small with Frank is on the floor. Put a smaller wing on him and make him defend a smaller player. Chances are he will not be able to exploit the same player on the offensive end.
- Deng vs Marvin - two former high ACC picks who have reinvented their games this season. They will be key for their teams.
- Watch out for Troy Daniels. He will get some minutes here and there. He's shooting 50% from 3 on the season. He'll be ready to shoot as soon as he steps on the floor.
- I can't see either team winning this series in less than 6 games. Home court advantage will probably be the deciding factor. Heat probably slide by in 6 or 7 games, but if Kemba, Lin and Batum all play well, Hornets can win in 6.

Thats an easy plus in favor of the Heat. Richardson is a great defender and a much better playmaker. But maybe Troy can surprise them one game and hit 3 or 4 big 3s in a short span to turn a game in our favor.

Still remember this. And they called the foul on Sessions lol, what a joke.
First game Sunday at 5:30 on TNT.
We will win this series.

Re: Hornets vs. Heat Series Thread
Key matchup: Deng vs Nic, Deng's D can give Nic a lot trouble, when he's trouble, so is the team.
Their bench mob are very high energy and play pretty good D, our bench's gotta be prepared for that.
They don't have a backup PG, it'd be important to try to exploit that weakness.
Can Al evade Whiteside's block? Will Whiteside fall for Al's fakes?
Battle of the rookies: who of Winslow and Frank can have a bigger impact on the series?
Lin has traditionally had problems with Heat's pressing D, having Whiteside is even worse. He played well in the season opener against them but not so well the last three, except for those 4 clutch FTs to seal the game in Miami.

Did you happen to realize that the player you show Wade flopping on is an even far more prestigious flopper than him

he probably deserved it.
also the reason the Heat are happy to face you guys is because Boston is a worse matchup for us. they swept the season series against us so if we had a choice to play Charlotte or Boston we would gladly take Charlotte.
any way, see you guys on Sunday!!

I think we can all agree we're happy to be in the 3-6 matchup

Force Dragic to his right - his right is weaker than Lin's left. Whiteside is starting so their bench cannot gamble as much on perimeter defense. Run JJ, Wade and Deng to the ground.
