Here's hoping he works out better than Lance. Is he signing a $4M deal, because we currently have no space.

honestly it's not the worst fit. actually a creative solution in a way, provided Hibbert's career is not currently Wile E. Coyote holding an "oh crap" sign while standing where a cliff used to be.

this either means Hawes is about to be gone or we just used the rest of our cap space.

Low risk (depending on deal structure), high reward.

Eh. If he tries it is ok if he plays like the last two years it sucks. Hope it is one years deal.

he is still a good paint defender, but he is slow as can be and terrible on offense.

Keep it under 7mil/year and it is a good fit. Hibbert provides length that Charlotte desperately lacked last season and he should be able to pass out to our 3 point sharpshooters.

Let's be honest, no one is going to love this deal regardless of the terms because it's just such an unsexy deal.

With that said, having a 7'2", 270 lb. dude who at one time was the anchor of the NBA's best defense backing up Cody does make me feel a little better about how we'll deal with really physical bigs with size on defense.

Slow ass 7'3 guy who can defend. I'll take it as long as it's not a 4 year deal. My gut tells me he's on a Jeremy Lin type contract in hopes of boosting his value into a longterm deal.

Remember when Hibbert was an "All-Star center"? yeah, good times, good times.

How does this fit in with Woj's tweet like two hours ago that we're moving Hawes for cap space?

I watched Hibbert and Hansbrough play, and grow, together for four years at Indiana. In fact, they worked well together. The Hibbert we have seen in the last two years is nowhere near what he can be. But he needs a sports psychologist. He lost all confidence. Half the time, Hibbert literally throws the ball at the basket, instead of shooting. He used to have a decent hook shot. He gets down on himself, then quits trying. I mean, this guy can do it, but someone has to convince him first. Playing for a negative Nelly coach would be the worst possible situation for him, and Coach Clifford is not known to mince words.

As a reclamation project, it's not a bad deal at all. It would be nice to see him reunited with Tyler, but that does not appear to be in the cards.
