We are most underrated team in the nba

Just look around. On the ec predictions thread we are only a playoff team on about 30% of the predictions. Whenever I post in other teams boards they all think their teams are better than the hornets (knicks, bulls, kings boards lol)

No one thinks kemba is any good. No one thinks marvin is any good.

There's this weird belief floating around that Lin and Jefferson were the reason we were competitive at all.

It's kinda nuts that we tied for the 3rd best record in the EC and had the best record in the nba post ASB and yet no one thinks we can even make the playoffs.

And we did all that without arguably our best player. Honestly, I've never seen a team this strong get so widely discredited. The funny part is teams like Chi and NYK who will be lucky to go .500 actually believe they are better than the hornets....

I get called a Homer on every other board when everyone on this board things I'm hypercritical of the hornets lol

We were one of the worst teams in the league for a long time, takes a while to earn the respect of the NBA general fan community and really of our own fanbase. Wouldn't surprise me if a general survey of this board showed that the majority think there is a higher likelihood that we miss the playoffs than that we get a top 4 seed this season.

This is nothing new. Its been the same thing for as long as I have been on this website. We are always overlooked on this site as well as the national media.

My advice, grow thicker skin when reading anything from the General Board or any other team boards or else you will be perpetually annoyed.

To be honest, I think that many if not most posters on even this board thought we would miss the playoffs last year.
I didn't but I thought 45 wins was most likely, if we hadn't had the injury riddled losing streak we would have topped 50!
This year, I bet we get to 50.

The Hornets are pretty darn good. We won't be great but we can finish in the top 4 and win a round or 2 with some luck.

my 2 cents

based on an offseason poll from last offseason the board consensus was we would win between 40-45 games.

That was pre-MKG injury though, I believe.

Rally I can agree with you for the Knicks are in the same boat as the Hornets. Your team is in that prove everybody wrong stage because they feel that it was a fluke that you made it to the playoffs and haven't made it out of the 1st rd sense 2002. Like the Knicks your depending on a player that has been known for being injury prone and we all know they are one injury away from sending us to the lotto. Your team last year had several players that helped you to the playoffs (Lin & Lee), with losing them you lost a little depth and like the Knicks you have question marks with who can step up and take their place. Can Sessions provide what Lin gave you?

One thing I must say, after watching what your team did in the P.O's I really like what Zeller brought night in night out and that's heart. He may not be the most skilled player, but he hustles his azz off and most teams in the NBA would love to have him. But, will he start over a player that thinks he's a star (Hibbertt) but sometimes plays like he should be in the D. League. I do feel that like Jefferson he would disrupt the flow of your team because unlike everyone else on your squad he doesn't run the floor.

Now I do see you guys making it back to the playoffs, but like I said your an MKG injury away from being Lotto bound, if he can stay healthy I can see your team in a higher position going into the playoffs. The East has a lot of teams that have improved to include my Knicks sooo it will be a sword fight to the finish. Good Luck!

The EC kinda sabotaged itself this summer while Charlotte "lost" their 2 least efficient post all-Star rotation players. The addition of MKG + growth of young players gives the Hornets a higher ceiling and floor than 2015-16. Plus, Cho kept salaries in check for an in-season trade and 2017.

with Coach clifford, baring injuries, the Hornets will consistently go to playoffs

You have a weak front court and lack depth, you will be lucky to make the playoffs.

We won 48 games last season with an equal or slightly worse frontcourt. The difference in our depth from last season can basically be boiled down to slightly downgrading Lin to Sessions. We replaced Lee in the starting lineup with MKG and swapped out Jefferson for Hibbert. MKG is an upgrade over Lee. Jefferson and Hibbert are both awful. Lin to Sessions is a slight downgrade due to Lin being a superior defender and being able to guard SG's, but overall it is a fairly marginal downgrade. You can check the stats if you don't want to take my word for it. http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/pcm_finder.cgi?request=1&sum=0&y1=2016&p1=linje01&y2=2016&p2=sessira01&p3=&p4=&p5=&p6=

Its a massive stretch to say that those changes downgrade us from the 3rd best record in the conference and being top 10 in offensive and defensive efficiency to clearly not being a playoff team. It is certainly possible we don't make the playoffs if we have major injuries or random chemistry issues that we couldn't possibly foresee at this point, but there isn't much reason to doubt that our roster is good enough.

how our season will go will be determined by injuries and how much the other east teams improve (which is basically everyone besides the Nets and Heat)

A reason Hornets get the NBA Rodney Dangerfield treatment is because the biggest wins occurred under incremental INJURIES to key starters:TOR, BOS, SAS, CLE, MIA #3-5.

Sure, counter argument is, had those starters been healthy the outcome would have been the same...some in the league are doubtful.

What is certain, someone will need to step up next season. Whenever Lin took control of the offense he brought hope against the toughest foes ... the league is waiting to see who will generate that ability to mobilize against NBA elites. Sessions has the offensive stats but can he do THAT, and if he can't who will?

And here I thought Nets were the most underrated team, especially by Celtics & Hornets Team boards and weirdly the Nets own "so-called fans". Not only does everyone think Lin will NOT improve competitiveness but there's this belief that BKN has no chance of going back to playoffs where they had been 3 of 4 yrs, but not surprising considering 21 wins.

I would wait to be a fan of a team for more than three weeks before you start questioning the fanhood of longtime Nets fans.

Nah, the reason we get Rodney Dangerfield treatment is we are an NBA meme. We had **** uniforms/mascot, some **** seasons and a meme owner who everyone likes to **** on because they like to see great people fail.

It's just a low effort joke that will never die which has entered the conscious of people who now think we are worse than we are and will continue to do so until further notice.

It's going to take years to remove the Bobcats stench from this franchise. Even after an awesome rebrand and some legitimately decent seasons we're still a meme. We're basically a completely different organization now.

Are you guys really still telling yourself that we only could have won big games with Lin controlling the reigns?

Not saying that at all, Hornets COULD have won big games with anyone controlling the reigns.

Just noting that 1 game is happenstance, 2 games is coincidence, 3 games is a trend... 7 games is "give me some mo' dat injured starter stuff, could get used to that".
