Looks like he was a point guard, though he scored more than he passed. Even so, I believe we just completed the Swarm starting line-up.
Andrews
Harrison
Graham
Wood
Tobey

Remember that time A-squared dropped 47 on senior night? Me neither, but still......a guy who might end up being the Swarms best player deserves more than 8 comments.

Watching Dejounte's mesmerising transition pass @ 2:15 reminded me why I've avoided this thread like the plague thus far. Shaking it off and embracing team Andrews now.

Meh, he was basically a chucker on a pretty bad Washington team. He only had one season where he shot above 40% FG and one season where he had at or above 3 apg. I like the fact that he has improved his three point shooting and had nice rebounding numbers his senior year though.

He he has solid size and athleticism for a point guard and is good shooting off the dribble. His scoring efficiency is better than it looks because he gets to the line A LOT. If he can reign in his chucking tendencies and look to create offense for others more I think he can make it in the league.
Opportunities to make a roster are hard to come by though, and next year's draft is loaded at point guard. While that isn't good news for Andrews that's good news for us. We need a point guard to develop.

I doubt many people would agree he's "basically a chucker." That or we define and measure chucking very differently. Andrews' TS of 58% was 2nd for PAC-12 guards and 16th/99 for NCAA power conference guards with > 300 FGA. In fact, only 18 out of 351 teams had a TS% higher than Andrews.
And it's not like his 26.9% usage is uncommon in college - the last 2 years alone there were 756 player seasons with usages > 25%, most of which were less efficient than Andrews (including drafted players).
I like the fact that he has improved his three point shooting and had nice rebounding numbers his senior year though.
He pretty much improved everything from his Freshman year which culminated in an outstanding all-around Senior season.
Stats (Freshman : Senior)Assists/100 = 5.7 : 7.4 (lead team)
Assist%: 18.2 : 26.6 (5th all PAC players)
BPM = 2.1 : 8.9 (lead team and 7th out of 81 PAC players)
WS = 1.6 : 5.8 (lead team and 2nd in PAC after Poeltl)
DWS = .7 : 1.4 (2nd after Dejounte and 18th in PAC)
DREB = 10.5% : 12.7% (higher than UW's 6'9" lotto pick)
TS = 48.0% : 58.0% (2nd PAC guards > 300 FGA)
FT = 73.3% : 85.0% (1st all PAC players > 50 FTA)

Yeah, chucker was probably harsh, though he was the highest volume shooter (taking into account FGAs + FTAs) on his very mediocre college team. It was more a characterization of his college career, where every year until his senior year he averaged more 3PTAs than assists as a PG.
As LofJ pointed out, he got to the line at a great rate and converted at 85%, so that was a massive help to his efficiency. He only shot 38.7% on 2PT FGAs, so unless he can draw fouls at that rate in the NBA there are definitely some questions about how his efficiency his senior year will convert.

Andrews waived today.
What does that mean for keeping him with Swarm?

Think it doesn't have much of an effect, they still can sign him to the Swarm and it was highly unlikely that he was going to get a roster spot.

Expected, but the timing is a bit weird with Roberts out tonight. Though I guess we're not expecting to see too many third string players. Harrison the emergency PG?
I'm not entirely sure how his rights work, but he may go into the draft pool for the DL draft at the end of the month. Tougher to find info on this one.
More interested in a guy like Graham. Ok, we gave him an NBA deal (with some guaranteed money, by the way), but last year he played in the DL. If we cut him... is he a FA? Does his old team maintain his rights? Does Greensboro? Does he go into the draft pool? Who knows!

I believe the Hornets keep the D-League draft rights of the last 4 players that they waive. The draft is held on Oct. 30th.
But that's assuming he goes to the D-League. He could bypass those d-league rights by going overseas or signing with another NBA team if someone wants him enough to keep him out of the d-league.
If he's not going overseas and doesn't get picked up by another NBA team, then the Swarm holds his d-league rights if he wants to be in the D-League.

Clifford said Andrew Andrews was waived because he has an opportunity in Europe. In other words, he wouldn't have been with the Swarm.
