Perry Ellis will attend training camp with the Charlotte Hornets.

Ellis averaged 5.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per game for the Dallas Mavericks during the NBA summer league in Las Vegas.

Ellis underwent surgery for a sports hernia this week but is expected to be back in time for the start of camp.

“It’s a really good fit. They like him a lot. They’ve talked about him all summer,” agent Mark Bartelstein said of the Hornets. “We think it’s got a chance to be a really good opportunity for him. Coaches there are excited to have him. He has to get himself healthy here the next couple weeks. Then he’ll go into camp and compete.”

The only guy i have interest to watch is just Christian Woods. I don't give a **** to another scrub who join our team. Welcome to the Swarm.

Man, I need to have the brain checked. My first thought; He's too old is he going to be a coach? Then I realized I was confusing the name Perry Ellis with Pervis Ellison.

Every team needs a Perry Ellis...or a Jared Dudley. Ellis won't blow anyone away with his athleticism. That always limits a player's Achilles heel in this league. But if you want hustle, rebounds, fouls when it's needed, a key assist, and intelligent team play, you could do worse than Perry Ellis.

But he could certainly use a visit to the Rogaine factory outlet. Or see Hendo's barber.

This is sort of a Hansbrough type signing with a little more potential upside.

Training camp is going to be a lot more interesting this year. I love how we did a complete 180 on how we use the end of our bench and now we are literally overflowing with young guys with at least some potential. I hope the final roster turns out something like this...

Kemba/Sessions/Roberts
Batum/Belly/Graham
MKG/Lamb/Ellis
Marv/Frank/Wood
Cody/Roy/Hawes

Deep down I'm hoping that Christian Wood has a sort of "break out" situation and gets some fringe rotation minutes. Having another PF option would allow more time for Frank at the 5, which means less Hibbert and Hawes. Playing MKG/Batum at the 4 some accomplishes that as well, but I'm still not sure if Cliff will go down that path (even though he loves talking about it) and Wood breaking out would just be awesome, albeit pretty unlikely for this season.
