I think we’re going to go after PG. Chos job is on the line

yeah I don't think I would be chasing Batum with the way his season has gone. Maybe try for Rubio?

if we are going to insist on trying to win now, offer Frank Kaminsky for Dinwiddie.

Re: Fake Trade Thread 16/17 pt.1
Not sure if OKC does a Batum/PG swap, but it sounds great for us, because even if he leaves, we'll have capspace to balance out the roster.
But if our FO doesn't want to go that route, here's another (less exciting) idea linking various trade rumors...
CHA in: Clarkson, Brewer
CHA out: Batum
LAL in: PG
LAL out: Clarkson, Brewer
OKC in: Batum
OKC out: PG
The Lakers fast forward to the inevitable and bring in PG, while also shedding a contract.
OKC already starts two ball dominate scorers and two elite defenders, Batum could fit in well on that team.
We get a backup PG and a stopgap wing that will come off the books.

Re: Fake Trade Thread 16/17 pt.1
If the Hornets trade for PG and he leaves the team only ends up with about $2-4 mil of cap space after signing a draft pick. Yeah, it would be good to be well away from the tax line, but it wouldn't actually buy the team any flexibility.
I'm still for that trade though. I would expect OKC to prefer Mello for Batum though if it were even halfway serious.

Wiretap says we tried to snag Jimmy Butler in the offseason but they didn't like what we offered.
I bet we offered them two of MKG, Zeller, 11 and hoped that would be enough.

that's awful. We give up all the value for PG, yet get Clarkson and Brewer's contracts
Plain and simple, if we can get PG for Batum, we do it. I'm not expecting Batum to return to form this season till he sits out/has surgery or whatever he needs to do to get his body and mind straight.

We should do anything we can to try to get Julius Randle. I would offer Frank and a second round but I doubt lakers would go for that

I wouldn't count on Batum getting anything right until he starts having to work again for his next contract. This guy is on coast mode, enjoying life's pleasures, and basically is a marshawn lynch media type guy on the court, only there to collect his check. If we can get two playable guys out of him, I'm all for it.

I would offer Frank and a 1st rounder for Randle. I’d offer Zeller and a 1st rounder for him. Randle is silently the Lakers best player but you wouldn’t know because of all the hoopla around Lonzo, Kuzma, and Ingram being their future.
Randle is the prototypical modern day NBA C.

Re: Fake Trade Thread 16/17 pt.1
The issue with trading for Randle is that he is a RFA after this year. If the Hornets just trade for him and make no other moves they go over the tax.
I do think that Randle would fit well with both Frank and Cody though. I would rather have some other sort of trade to get him if the Hornets were really interested.

Re: Fake Trade Thread 16/17 pt.1
Lin is done unfortunately. I thought there was a chance we make a play for him this year but that patella injury jeopardizes his career.
Getting out of the Batum contract even if it’s for bench contributors would be enormous for us. He is not the reason Kemba took the next step yet he is credited with it.
Love the PG idea but OKC may not give up on him this quick. Randle is another great fit here. Just trade him for Frank?

That trade straight up would put the team over the tax threshold. Then next year Randle is a RFA which would put the team way over without some sort of salary dump.
Hornets are in cap nightmare land now.

JOB would make up the salary difference I believe.
But yeah re-signing him without moving someone would be problematic. As it stands we probably need to move someone anyway because this **** ain't working

Ah, I figured there would be a cap issue with that. Maybe there’s a way to also get out of Batum or Marvin’s deals if we take KCP back and let him walk this summer.

Re: Fake Trade Thread 16/17 pt.1
Anyone got any reasonable Kemba trade ideas? Obviously it wouldn't be ideal to trade him, but that is probably what would give us the best odds to lose at this point. I do not think we should trade him unless we get the right offer of course
